On Sunday, Oct 17th my friends and I purchased a SMP server so we could play online together without crashing constantly on our makeshift server. So it has been a few days and nothing on the end of the hosting company servminecraft.com . The only thing that comes up when we try to connect is: "Failed to connect to the server Connection refused: connect." Does it take awhile for you to set it up? Is it on our end?
if anyone has answers please drop a post.
Its been made pretty obvious to me that there was a serious miscommunication and further errors in our ordering process. What happened is that we've hired a few new folks and are training them. This past week I felt comfortable leaving the company in their hands while out of town. Heres what happened:
When your order was placed we had an error inserting it into our mysql database, the new guys saw your contact on our message board and for some reason assumed it was just someone trying to get a free server. They didn't cross check the paypal payments or really know how to handle the situation and decided to wait until I was back in town.
We here at SERVMINECRAFT.COM give our deepest apologies for the hassle you were put through and the lack of communication on our part. Also I apologize personally because I simply started ServMinecraft to make the minecraft server market more competitive and to help the minecraft community as a whole not hurt it.
We've refunded your money in paypal and have done several things to assure that this will never happen again:
1. We've decided that one of the employees (the one who thought your order comment was trying to get a server for free) isn't a good fit with us as a new company and has left us.
2. The mysql database error that led to your order not going through the default transaction process has been fixed.
3. All orders are now crosschecked inside paypal to 1. make sure we don't miss any and 2. we never have to worry if any comments are trying to get free servers or not.
4. I'm back and are working with the rest of the guys to make sure we recognize horrible customer service when we're giving it, and how to fix it.
Once again we're sorry for the several things that went wrong here and hope that the minecraft community will still consider ordering minecraft servers from us, thank you.
I am a customer of servminecraft.com and have been for a couple months. While sometimes there service is slow on odd requests (such as getting root user status) I have never had an issue with customer service when it comes to crashes.
The server had a memory leak error at about 1 AM central time, I sent an email asking for the issue to be resolved and within 15 minutes I had a reply and the issue was fixed. Since then I have not had a crash or any downtime on the server.
One thing that I do really like about servminecraft is that they do allow you to have root access to your server! Its all hosted on linux based machines so if you know your way around linux you can add your own mods and what not. This is important to me simply because I like to tinker with different mods and most hosted servers don't allow that.
All in all, I would recommend them. Yes there are some hiccups but I would rather go with a small mom & pop shop over a server farm because A) I like to support small business, :cool.gif: I feel more important as a customer and C) I am a small business owner myself so I understand the hardships and struggles it takes to start a successful company.
