This will in no way be complete but it should be a good starting point. I will try to keep track of the bug's introduction.
Single Player Alpha Bugs
Gameplay Bugs:
FPS Mostly Fixed
Severity: Minor to game breaking.
Description: Since update 1.0.16 there is a major drop in FPS in the client application. Depending on the hardware, it can be a minor drop (50 fps out of 300+ isn't much of a deal) to crippling, going down to 0-10 FPS.
Workaround: None. Since: Started @ Alpha 1.0.16. Submitted: August 22 2010.
Confirmed: Many many times.
Platform: All.
As of version 1.0.17_04 several fixes were introduced and the FPS bug mostly disappeared.
Mining
Severity: Minor.
Description: When close to the maximum distance you can mine, Minecraft hesitates (or even whacks a couple of times mid-air) before breaking the next resource even if it is outlined. Alternatively, the closer you are to the resource, the faster you can break the one beside or behind it.
Workaround: None. Since: Unknown / Existed before Alpha 1.0.15. Submitted: August 15 2010.
Confirmed: No.
Platform: All
Movement / Other - Stuttering/Sticking (unable to move) Fixed as of 1.0.17_04
Severity: Game-breaking.
Description: There is no definitive amount of time before it happens, but after you have played for a while the game gets stuck in an animation loop (usually happens when mining, but also been known to happen when walking around) and the player is stuck in place, unable to move, although you can still mine while pointing at a resource. You still can change tool, access inventory, etc. Moving though is impossible. This problem is also known to bring FPS down by quite a number.
Workaround: Hitting ESC, quitting then reentering the world might fix the problem. Success rate varies. You can also try to close the game and restart. Since: Alpha 1.0.16_02 Submitted: August 15 2010
Confirmed: Yes (10+)
Platform: Win (no confirmation on other platforms)
Crafting - Items destruction Fixed in 1.0.17_04
Severity: Minor
Description: Closing the crafting table with items inside will permanently destroy said items under certain circumstances. If you play on a Multiplayer server, disconnect then continue in SINGLE player mode and close a crafting table with items inside, those items will be lost forever. Also, under the same circumstances, if you die, you will lose all the items in your inventory!
Workaround: After disconnecting from multiplayer, close Minecraft completely. Restart the game and you should be fine. Since: 1.0.16_02 or before Submitted: August 16 2010
Confirmed: Yes (3)
Platform: Win
Chests
Severity: Moderate
Description: Items that you store in the chest have a random chance of disappearing forever. Conversely, when you take out items, there's a very small chance it'll duplicate the item you stored in the chest, meaning that you have double of what you used to. It happens MUCH less often than the disappearing thing though!
Workaround: None known. Since: Unknown Submitted: August 18 2010

Platform: Win
Aesthetics Lighting
Severity: Aesthetics
Description: Certain tiles allow light through while normally, they are not suppose to, and certain tiles blocked some light while it not suppose to
Workaround: Just break said block/tiles and replace it. It should update the lighting on the block but might affect blocks around it.
Since: It's been lingering around since v1.0.1x (as far as I noticed it) Submitted: August 18 2010
Confirmed: No

Block placement/Chunk saving
Severity: Major
Description: This relates to several other bugs. The problem is how the game saves the chunks. Certain chunks are rolled back to the previous state (hence why buildings disappear after you build them or you can duplicate/lose items from chests) Workaround: When that happens, just quit the client or exit the browser and retry again. (You might need to rebuild but usually, the next time, it saves to the chunk so it doesn't disappear)
Since: this started happening at around v1.0.15 or higher Submitted: August 18 2010
Confirmed: No
Platform: Win
Movement / Linux
Severity: Game-breaking.
Description: Typing in the account information in Minecraft works but after that the keyboard is no longer responding to input. Has to do with IME Programs like SCIM or iBus. Workaround: Disabling/Killing or uninstalling those Programs.

Stairs Placement
Severity: Minor
Description: Stairs placement is a hassle and cannot/will not be properly aligned with its proper side whatever you do. Users constantly have to destroy and replace them until they either stick to the right block or align with other stairs already placed. Workaround: None except destroying and replacing.

Stairs Destruction
Severity: Minor

Severity: Moderate
Description: Upon reloading one's game and under unknown circumstances, certain world's chunk(s) might be reverted to a previous state or mixed with another part of the world. At other times, blocks known to not be there might have appeared without changing the geometry of the world. (Ore appearing in an old corridor, etc) Workaround: None

Doors automatically closing (wooden) or not at all (iron)
Severity: Minor
Description: With wooden doors when you hit them to open them sometimes as you are walking through them the door closes or starts freaking out. Iron doors don't open or close at all...no matter which form of button or red stone or combination you use, the door will not function.
Workaround: There really is no work around for the iron doors except destroying the iron door. The wooden door however you can just make sure you are right next to the door when you open it. Workaround: None.

Item Duplication Fixed in release 1.0.17_4
Severity: Minor
Description: Kinda useful if you're just screwing around and not really attempting to accomplish anything. If you open your inventory and you click an item and just hold it, when you exit the inventory with the stuff still in your hand, you spit the items out of your face. When you go to pick up the item it will register into your inventory, however when you open your inventory again you will realize you are still holding the same exact item (and number of items) in your hand. Thus you can just constantly keep opening and closing your inventory and the item will constantly duplicate! Character not picking up objects on the ground.
Severity: Minor
Description: After playing for a while the character will simply stop picking up blocks or whatever can be lying on the ground, even if there is plenty of free space. Workaround: Reconnecting to the server or by bringing up the inventory and picking up what is in the slot that you are currently holding will make the character pick up what is close to him. Also turning the mouse wheel (to change selected slot in inventory) will trigger picking up stuff from the ground. Or moving (with mouse-wheel) to an empty slot usually triggers "pick up".

/// GENERALIZED PROBLEM WITH INTEL GRAPHIC CARDS ///
////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Since I've been here and active on the support forum I have seen many many reports of people with Intel graphic cards giving black screen or being unplayable. Because Intel OpenGL drivers suck big time, there isn't much we or Notch can do. The only people that might be able to help are the folks at JLWGL. Hopefully when a new version of those libraries are made public it will better support those Intel cards.

If you want to participate in this bug list there are two things you can do. For all bugs that are posted you can try to replicate it (by following the steps in the description if available) and/or you can submit a new bug.
If you wish to submit a new bug, please give the information for each field to the best of your knowledge.
Could someone give me a list of bugs and issues with servers please? I have played once on a server and I don't have a list of broken/unimplemented things. Thanks.

ok I THINK i figured that out Mystwork, If you go right into single player it works okay. if you go into multiplayer and load the map, if you decide to go back into single player without restarting the client or browser you will not be able to spawn items from your face (best way i could think of describing it).
I will try to corroborate that later. I do remember having played MP when it happened, but what I can't recall is if I had closed the client between the two or not.

Ok I'm going to bump that bug up to moderate severity. turns out when the bug is happening, if you manage to die all the items you had will vanish as well...learned that the really hard way >.<
Aesthetics Lighting Severity: Aesthetics
Certain tiles allow light through while normally, they are not suppose to, and certain tiles blocked some light while it not suppose to Since: It's been lingering around since v1.0.1x (as far as I noticed it) Workaround: Just break said block/tiles and replace it. It should update the lighting on the block but might affect blocks around it.
Gameplay Block placement/Chunk saving Severity: Major
This relates to several other bugs. The problem is how the game saves the chunks. Certain chunks are rolled back to the previous state (hence why buildings disappear after you build them or you can duplicate/lose items from chests) Since: this started happening at around v1.0.15 or higher Workaround: this shouldn't so often but in case it happens, just quit the client or exit the browser and retry again. (you might need to rebuild but usually, the next time, it saved to the chunk so it doesn't disappear)

I think I flooded the map with glowstone via BC, IC and EE
Gameplay - storing items in chests
Rank - Moderate
Items that you store in the chest have a random chance of disappearing forever. Conversely, when you take out items, there's a very small chance it'll duplicate the item you stored in the chest, meaning that you have double of what you used to. It happens MUCH less often than the disappearing thing though!
Any circumstances where it happens? Is it totally random?
I honestly haven't seen that happening, but that doesn't mean much. Try to duplicate the problem if you can.
Also, if I enter it I'll need since when it happens. It doesn't have to be very precise, but it would be nice.

This field will serve to indicate multiple users being affected by the bug/feature. Its values will be Yes/No. If it is Yes, a number in parenthesis will follow indicating how many people can duplicate the problem. This will serve as an indication of severity and occurrence. The more people are affected, the worse it is. This is not to say it is unimportant, but without confirmation and a way to duplicate the problem, it is very tough to fix.

Hey MadJack, for the bugs with the multiplayer, did you want to mention everything that works in single player that doesnt work the same in multi? or how did you want to do that? because i do understand Notch is working to bring both sections up to pace...I wondered should we make a list of things that need to be fixed or what?
Honestly if we can get everything not working (or broken) on servers that is currently implemented, that would be great. If it's not in the server there's no point to say it's bugged since it's not in the server.
Examples:
The furnaces should smelt but it doesn't. That's a bug.
Chests are not working. That's not a bug.
People getting randomly hurt on spawn. Bug.
Mobs don't spawn. Not a bug.
Etc.
So to answer your question, yes. A list of things that need to be fixed that are currently implemented. Down the line we could, if needed, add stuff that are missing in S/MP that is in SP. But we're far from being there. :smile.gif:

Stuttering has been here since Infdev (as in, before Alpha). Currently, the only fix is reloading the game. It is caused by corrupted chunks or a memory leak.

I have seen several stuttering threads lately but only from 1.0.16_02 are there about STICKING (and stuttering) to the ground and being unable to move. I haven't seen that bug previously. Are you talking about the two (stuttering AND sticking) or just stuttering?

This just occurred to me, had 2 chunks reload themselves... right in the middle of my fortress wall and half a tower...
Fortunately that hasn't happened to me. Hopefully it won't either. But I have to admit my world isn't full of constructions. It mainly consist of small dwellings here and there and LOTS of caverns sculpted everywhere underground.

Okay I'm going to go through a few bugs that I've found in the multipayer to get this a little bit more full of information. ALL THE TESTS WERE USING MINECRAFT CLIENT FOR WINDOWS VERSION 1.0.17_02 AND SERVER 0.1.4

Doors automatically closing (wooden) or not at all (iron) Severity: minor Description: With wooden doors when you hit them to open them sometimes as you are walking through them the door closes or starts freaking out. Redstone wire does not function with buttons, pressure plates, etc. Severity: minor Description: Any sort of trigger attached to the redstone wire which normaly would change the state of the wire does not affect anything. Workaround: N/A

I'd like to note that the stutter bug has been around for some time prior to .16. I've experienced it as early as .14, IIRC, and I'm 100% sure it existed in .15

Doors automatically closing (wooden) or not at all (iron)
Severity: Minor

Item DuplicationFixed in release 1.0.17_4Severity: Minor
Description: Kinda useful if you're just screwing around and not really attempting to accomplish anything. If you open your inventory and you click an item and just hold it, when you exit the inventory with the stuff still in your hand, you spit the items out of your face. When you go to pick up the item it will register into your inventory, however when you open your inventory again you will realize you are still holding the same exact item (and number of items) in your hand. Thus you can just constantly keep opening and closing your inventory and the item will constantly duplicate!
Workaround: Make sure to place your item back on the grid before closing the inventory

Tools inventory Icons z-order is wrong while hovering over block icons.
Severity: Aesthetics
Description: While in the inventory, any tools you move will be overlapped by ANY BLOCK. Meaning that instead of having the picked up tool (attached to the cursor) OVER the icon of a block (sand, cobblestone, etc) in an inventory slot, the BLOCK icon will OVERLAP it. /// GENERALIZED PROBLEM WITH INTEL GRAPHIC CARDS ///
////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Thanks.
I will try to corroborate that later. I do remember having played MP when it happened, but what I can't recall is if I had closed the client between the two or not.
Did some clean-up and added workaround field.

Gameplay Block placement/Chunk saving
Severity: Major
This relates to several other bugs. The problem is how the game saves the chunks. Certain chunks are rolled back to the previous state (hence why buildings disappear after you build them or you can duplicate/lose items from chests)
Since: this started happening at around v1.0.15 or higher
Workaround: this shouldn't so often but in case it happens, just quit the client or exit the browser and retry again. (you might need to rebuild but usually, the next time, it saved to the chunk so it doesn't disappear)
:smile.gif:

I have seen several stuttering threads lately but only from 1.0.16_02 are there about STICKING (and stuttering) to the ground and being unable to move. I haven't seen that bug previously. Are you talking about the two (stuttering AND sticking) or just stuttering?
If this happening frequently - try to delete and create new World (well if its your new World). Helped in my case.
It's my biggest world, so the answer is no, I won't delete it. :smile.gif:
Besides, I can play MP. I can wait.
