Mac server!

I have recently wanted a server, the only problem is I have a mac. I know you can run servers on macs, but i don't know how. I read the readme.txt it said to put

java -cp minecraft-server.jar com.mojang.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer

after i put this is i got an error of.

Some people say, "go download the latest java," I did i know have V 6 of java. I did do ' cd downloads ' then after that i did ' cd minecraft-server '

I dont know what to do! then i tried the server.properties, I did always open with text edit, i can change this if i need to.

Anyone who helps me needs to know how to fix that error and also how to do the server properties and ALL OF THE THINGS i need to know about my server. I want it public. THANKS!

Actually, i did some poking around.

I did alot of reading on the first post(second one i dont think was needed) And I still cant get it to work BTW i have A

Mac OS X Version 10.5.8 2.66 GHz intel core 2 Duo snow leopard. I saw in that post that core 2 duo dosnt work, but he got it working even though he had core 2 duo.

When i downloaded the update i found out i had to start it up, so i did as he said.... Go to applications/utilities/java then run the software, When i did so it quit and said would you like to report the problem so i need help!!!!

ok...im happy well a little i did a little looking into my computer and found out how to make it work, Now when i go to my server (River Bank RP) it says wrong protocol. I need to know how to fix this and also while im trying to fix this i would like to know how to get a custom server. How do you write them, what application for mac and things like that. Thanks for the help, but i still need more! Also how do you get to have a flat map, not realistic map.

I'm not sure if those custom servers that are avail work with macs, but look up Minercpp or DF Server.

Alas, clear your minecrft temp cache/minecraft.net folder and re-try it.

temp chache? i don't wanna delete the wrong thing does that mean all? where would the minecraft.net folder be?

Ahem, your browser allows you to delete temporary internet files, just try that.

If not go to: C:/Documents and Settings/<YourUser>/LocalSettings/Temp

You should see two or one folder's labeled:
minecraft.net
or
www.minecraft.net

Delete both of them and then try again.

i cant seem to find documents and settings and or C: dang im bad with computers. once i click finder what do i click...I need a step by step directions

Major Rule: Don't fuck with anything if you don't know what C is.

C: is one of your Hard Drives, which is in My Computer.

Well don't i feel stupid, just use a search program/finder on your mac and look up Minecraft as a keyword, if it displays those folders delete them.

Or have your browser delete private data/cache/temp internet files.

i searched in finder as' minecraft' what came up? a bunch of things in my clients and folders and some folders named minecraft. none are namme minecraft.net or www.minecraft.net should i delete these?

uh oh.....now since i ahve java v 6 installed java wont work on anything unless i use my client....thats not good
