I would like to post my experience with MyMCServ. Overall, I was not satisfied with the experience and ended up switching to another host even though I was afforded an extra month free service for my experience.
Here I am going to detail out why.
I am your average gamer. My girlfriends and I wanted to set up a fun little server for ourselves, so after reviewing several hosts here I decided to try out MyMCServ. I signed up for the "Xen Minecraft Servers - Server 512MB RAM" package since it's a fairly small group on February 10th. My order was received around 8:45PM on the same night, as was my payment. My server was setup and my details sent on February 11th at 1:09PM.
Note: I am not complaining about the setup time. The initial activation emails stated that it can take 24 hours for a server to set up, and that is OK with me. I am just detailing times here so you can be the judge and to show I kept all the emails and records.
Now, I was pretty new to Minecraft and knew it was in BETA and knew it would be a hassle from day one. Any support tickets I submitted between now and what I'm detailing next I was happy with the answer and the service. I just want to make that clear.
On March 16th I noticed that my server was down and the status was "Cancelled." I filed a ticket, puzzled, as I had paid on time and even noted the payment through paypal in my inbox before that day. Now, I can no longer log into my cancelled account so I don't have my first ticket that I sent but in no way was I rude or did I abuse them. Ever. Here is the reply I received:
"Hey,
Your next due date on our system is Next Due Date: 04/03/2011, can you provide a paypal transaction ID?
Thanks,
Jonathan
MyMCServ Senior Techie."
I provided the proper transaction ID. As I said I cannot access my responses anymore, feel free to post them MyMCServ if you wish.
"Hey,
I am really not sure about this. Your account is not showing up in the list, although your account does exist. The long and the short of it is, your server has been removed from our servers, including the data. If you have a backup, I can put you onto anouther node and give you a free months hosting for the troubles.
You would need to make a new client account too.
Thanks,
Jonathan
MyMCServ Senior Techie."
Needless to say I was pretty miffed. Jonathon did not even apologize or provide any answer as to why this took place. I am unsure if I am being unreasonable but this did not sit well with me or the other Minecraft server visitors. I am an agreeable, calm, chill person and I told my girlfriends about it and we all agreed we would give it another chance since we got a free month. It was only fair.
I took a couple of days to cool down, then I went to re-order. My Xen server order that I noted above was out of stock. I attempted to do this on March 26th, and filed a ticket stating so. So that they would understand I am still interested in ordering. Here is the reply I received:
"Hey,
The only thing I can suggest is waiting for the stock to come back in.
Thanks,
Jonathan
MyMCServ Senior Techie."
Again, no apology, no nothing... when this is all THEIR fault. Like I said, I'm a calm and chill person. So I waited for it to come back into stock. I finally found it back in stock on April 11th after noticing I was still subscribed to pay them in April - so I did submit a ticket and get my free month and the subscription payment funded to my new account and second attempt with them. They handled that well and that part I have no complaints.
MyMcServ's second chance bombed. The server was constantly laggy and the Control Panel (mcdash.net) was constantly down.
After several days of the same thing we had enough so I switched to a new host on April 15th. I will review the new host later, however I will state right now that I've had less trouble and lag with them than I did with MyMcServ. It's like opening up an entire new world that I never knew before.
So overall, that was my experience. I would NOT recommend them to anyone. I would be more than happy to provide any reasonable evidence. Thank you for your time!
The guy above me here, Jonathan, was really a great help. My server isn't even close to laggy, are you sure that it is not your computer that is the problem? He went in to my server files and troubleshooted the whole thing for me, and when he found the missing file, he went ahead and replaced it himself. And are you sure your account (paypal, credit/debit) was not out of money after the charge, and your bank didn't contradict the charge and cancel payment? I have had this happen before with other things... and that has nothing to do with MyMCServ. As far as my experiences go, they are fantastic. I must have filed around four support tickets to Jonathan within a 48 hour period, and he got back to each one within 10 minutes of my initial filing. So I would contradict, and actually seriously recommend MyMCServ. Jonathan made it incredibly easy to customize my server. Thanks bro!

I'm trying out Brohoster, but I will not make any comments on them yet. I'll post a review in a couple of months. It's kind of ironic considering I'm a female! I read some of the comments about their name/slogan being offensive to women in the other thread and laughed!

Hey,
First off, I am very sorry for the experiences you had. And, I am going to own up and say you did have a bad experience with us the first time. As for the second time I just looked at your tickets and you did not contact us regarding MCDash or the lag. Both these issue could be fixed.
We have had two times were MCDash has been fully down due to some mis-config on the SQL database and been a victim of our own success with the server we had it running on. The other times it seems not to be loading is an issue with your server - that can be fixed, and we have been fixing it on the small amount of our servers it was found to be happening on.
If you contact me via support I will refund you for the server you currently have with us as an apology for this.
Generally speaking we have a large amount of happy customers, an as of right now I am working at 2AM in the morning, surely that shows some dedication to what I do?
Thanks, and sorry,
Jonathan.
Honestly? Maybe I am sounding bratty here, and I'll be happy to own up to that - but I really feel that it's your responsibility to give me a lag free server from the beginning. I shouldn't have to come make a ticket about it, especially after a second chance was given. I'm not complaining about the lag so much as mcdash.net being down constantly. Perhaps in the future if you know that your users are experiencing strange downtime and lag issues with the CP you should send out an email informing them about the issue so they can come to you and let you know.

Yes, I am one hundred percent positive it's not my computer. I even used my husbands beastly i7 and of course, the proof positive is that it was not only me. My other girlfriends were lagging too, and we chat on Ventrillo/Steam/IRC together a lot of the day so we are pretty much in sync. There were about five-six of them complaining about it, and I experienced it too, so I believe them.
I am also one hundred percent sure that the payment went through, as confirmed by Jonathon above. I paid it in advance and got a confirmation through email.
