Officially update for 1.5_01! The "Wallhackery" pack is a pack designed to allow for you to see cave systems nearby through making sections of blocks transparent, unlike most "X-Ray" packs, it does not completely erase the blocks, and allows you to see where you are going, and what is around you, while at the same time being able to see caves.
Due to limitation with the engine, it can not be used to see lone ores that are not accompanied by "Air" blocks through a cave, cavern or dungeon.
Currently the pack only makes Smooth Stone transparent, so you can play as usual while above ground.
Download Mirrors! http://www.megaupload.com/?d=UAQJBFD4 Simply place the .zip file included in the download into your Texture Packs folder and you are good to go!
Let me know if you have any issues with the pack, or anything you want me to change, I will be happy to take requests.
OMG i love this, not because it people might think its cheating (its not because its a texture pack) because now i can make stone windows and stuff, more windows are avaliable, and maybe can you make a textures to all blocks later to this so it looks better while sniffin' out for ores? :biggrin.gif:
I am stuck, should I make all basic blocks Striped (Ex: Grass, Dirt, Stone, Cobble, Wood,Planks etc) or just things that would improve upon finding caverns and ore? (Ex: Stone, Dirt, Gravel,)
Also, I am going to make Ore Blocks non Striped, so they stick out and its easier to mine.
Right now I made all blocks Striped as a start, and I am factoring in witch ones to keep opaque?
Everything that a person might want to make a beeline for (coal, iron, gold, redstone, lapis, diamond, lava, obsidian, moss, tree trunks, flowers, mushrooms...) should be 100% opaque.
All blocks that do not occur naturally (planks, cobble, brick, half-blocks...) should be 100% opaque.
Sand, gravel, dirt, and smooth stone should be 1/4 opaque and 3/4 transparent.

I think that only things you can find in caves should be transparent like cobblestone or stone, and maybe make lava a bit see through also, because lava gets in the way of some ores, and this texture pack would be good with the glowing ores mod lol :tongue.gif:
Maybe not Dirt/Grass because it is found above ground and would make everything see through and be confusing to walk to places lol.
Dirt also gets in the way when mining, and I want you to be able to see caves from the surface, maybe making it possible to plan ahead where to place a mine, so Dirt/Sand etc is striped now.
I will update the first post with the download link for what I have done so far, etc.
Edit: I am making a version with Dirst and Sand etc unstriped, fully opaque
Now that you asked, yes, Chests are fully visible, all function blocks are fully opaque, but Smooth Stone and Gravel are striped (As well as Dirt and Sand, although these are opaque on "s").
I don't like using programs that let you get something from nothing, like INVedit ( Not that there is anything wrong with the program, but I like working for what I get) and it makes things easier to find. While still having to manually obtain the ore and whatnot yourself.

Your Welcome. The intent of this pack was mainly to give people a better idea where ores and caves are, to enhance the dull and almost mindless mining experience. Sure this allows you to see the caves, but it still leaves you with the challenge of getting there, avoiding the lava and making it through the mobs that spawn there, so there is still a large amount of challenge behind your rewards.
I love this! It's more visible than other 'see through' packs I've tried - I find standing on nothing to be terribly disconcerting.
Within minutes I found a dungeon a very short distance from one of my mine tunnels, never would have stumbled across it otherwise.
Yeah, I went through many of the other packs, some use a dotted texture, others modify the actual block properties to be transparent or transluscent, I always found those absolutely hell when it came to actually seeing where you are going.
I experimented alot with what pattern works the best, I found the stripes to be the most effective.
Im mayor of a city, Gold's Edge and with no mod powers starting a currency can be a pain so I decided to get this. Well I really only got this so I can see the gold and have a eaiser time geting gold and diamonds... I cant. I dont see the Diamonds, redstone, nothing. well unless its in a cave. Other then that, its invisible and i have to dig to it to appear. If you could fix this so u can see ores 100% opaque through dirt and stone, thatll be great!

Sadly, the engine does not allow, in its current form for directly connected blocks like that to be visible through, that would take serious modifications to the engine. This, being just a texture pack, does not mod the engine in any way, I based this pack mainly around finding caves.
There are just some glitches with this system, seeing as the engine is not designed to render what is beyond your immediate blocks.
You best use this pack for finding caves in the area.
You have been warned

I know, I just decided to make my own addition, and mine is going to be updated frequently with each update and such, as to keep compatible etc.
I know there is something I can do to improve upon it, I just can not figure out what..?
Thank you!
