Environment: The Nether AI: Non-Hostile Drop: Salamander Leather Misc: The salamander is a docile denizen of the Nether. They dwell around large lava pools and take breaks on the shores to cool and relax. Normally disinterested with the humans, a salamander will defend itself if attacked. They are strong and breath fire when desperate.
The Salamander Leather is a thick hide that is flame retardant. Armor made from this leather would bestow the wearer with resistance to being on fire. It would cause fire to extinguish rapidly. The player would still take damage, but not for long. This would not provide resistance to lava.
love it like any thing you do, might i suggest a desert salamander with reshading and hostile? :/ dunno think bout it

just realised first woot double win!!!
Demand axolotl (never metamorphosing salamander newt.) just a water salamander, really :smile.gif:
YES. Axolotls can regenrate any part of their body, even their intestines and heart. You would have to kill it quickly so it doesn't have time to regenerate its "heart."
I like the salamander idea, and I like the leather too. Is the leather craftable into all 4 pieces?
~ I've thought about the phrase 'Money is the root of all evil' and I have to disagree. Evil isn't dependant on an object. I say that want is the root of all evil.
I feel it should be called a basilisk (not the chicken headed one but the one from Grand Chase(not advertising))because they have more things to do with lava/fire and they look more like what you might find as a fire creature.
I like this idea, though since they live in the Nether, their armor should give some sort of resistance to lava. How about this:
-Very slight damage from touching fire
-No continual burn damage
-Lessened continual lava damage
OR:
No damage at all from fire when you have the full armor set, but it would be very hard to collect the leather (make the salamander rare/hostile?). This way, you could have a continual burning fire around your base as a defense.
The little faces in my Sig, some of them are links to other mob suggestions. Unfortunately there is a 5 URL limit in the signature field so they can't all be on at once. I switch them around. I might just make a website that has them in a hug/list format that leads back to the posts. But I feel most people are hesitant to leave the forums for stuff. I know I resist it.

Any plans for an alternate version like you usually do?
Maybe a Dire Salamander (Ancient? Monstrous?). Make it larger and more aggressive with big teeth and a spikes (blocky?) ridge on it's back.

So I'm not really sure what to do about it.
So by "desperate" you mean low on health or out of range?
