Okay so what if besides for the useage of aesthetics, flowers could be used to dye the cloth. I thought aabout this and came up with a a possible cloth colorer system so we can make colored houses and stuff in survival
The Cloth Colorer Table recipe would be:
and it would look like:
How Would it Work?
Well the flowers would have a natural color dye in which can be placed into the colorer. Wool blocks would be placed in here and then "painted" into the desired color.
"That would take ALOT of flowers for one wool block!" you say.
Well like the furnace, the "fire" of the currently made paint would last for some blocks until you have to replenish it again.
The color selection would work similar to RGB.
Depending on how much red flower and yellow and blue flower you have.
Example: 1 red 0 yellow and 0 blue = full red wool block
"But there isnt any blue flower!"
I am very aware of this inconvinience but perhaps Notch can squeeze it into Minecraft
Here are some examples on how cloth could be made:
I've heard dye mentioned before, I think Notch said at some point that he was thinking of mixing water with a flower to make a bucket of dye or something like that, but this is a very nice system. I'm sure it could be improved a little though, like how would we make gray?

Since it seems notch has already added a system to color blend (as seen with redstone how the particle is originally white I do believe, if not he said he was planning on it) then why have it have preset colors when you could make it a ratio of the colors added? If it was that, I would love this system.
All cloth blocks, except for the white cloth appearing in Infdev and Alpha mode, are being removed from the game. Notch is adding a function to the game that will allow it to make the texture of a block different colors. This means many colors of cloth can be made out of just 1 actual block type, being much more efficient in game space rather than 16 block types that are all nearly identical. This function will likely be used through craftable dyes.

Thusly with your dye system, we will get all colours and in creative mode all cloth colours will be easily accesible

Let's kick ass and eat granola and lucky for you I brought lots of granola
I would love this, especially if black and white flowers were implemented, and a full color chart were used. (Black flowers making it darker, and white flowers making it less saturated.)
