Basically, a couple of ideas for if (and I say if) there is alchemy implemented into the game somehow. If you don't like the idea of alchemy, do not post about it, do not even bother posting. Anywho, I will keep them brief and non-specific for flexibility
Transmutation: Break Down
Converts an object into its basic components. It does not turn something like an iron pick into 3 iron bars and sticks, but instead 3 iron ores and 2 planks (You cannot convert planks back into a living stump, or a stump at all). However, there is always the chance that a component could be lost, especially when it is something made out of diamonds...
Transmutation: Growth
Converts a large amount of (saplings? wheat? something else?) into a stone (like a green version of the step brick) that when placed causes all trees and wheat in a (9 brick? 15 brick?) radius to grow (2x? 4x?) faster than normal. However, these stones attract mobs (both the friendly and unfriendly kinds).
I will add some more later if the thread doesn't turn into a flamefest.
how about one that changes a certain amount of a mineral into one of the next highest quality? like 9 gold into 1 diamond. it would give gold a purpose.

I didn't want to suggest some that have already been suggested before (like that one, which I support sort of).
How about if you use people you get a philosophers stone!
Generally I disapprove of suggestions made based on anime, as Minecraft does need to stand on its own style and gameplay and reasons why everything works the way it does. And while a system to break tools down to their basic components sounds cool I am more attached to the permanent nature of the tools being made from materials instead of liquid materials that one can invest in anything freely.

Full Metal Alchemist didn't invent alchemy.
Normally I'm completely against magic but when they're done in this simplified way about passive powers that aren't completely op and annoying like super fire flying ninja punch round-house kick vampire lighting peloponnesian ****-monkey I can understand why some people want magic.
