I discovered that you can play multiplayer via the internet-share thing on the iphone/ipod touch.
It works really great and I don't really know if it needs any real internet connection at all.
I don't know how to share internet on ipad but on iphone/ipod it's under Settings → Internet sharing thing(I don't know because my phone is on swedish)

Just so ya know that "internet share thing" is called Bluetooth

1 change your language
2 bluetooth need to be even closer to work

i think you are talking about My Wi, the app you can get if your jailbroken, you can share your devices own hotspot and have other players connect to you.

Um, my ipod isnt jailbroken, and bluetooth have to be within a meter to connect
