If you had diamond stuff already, it wouldn't be much harder. Unless you ramp the difficulty to make diamond seem like wood and leather but then you'd need even more tiers to compensate.

Through the darkness of future past, the magician longs to see.

I don't see what you mean. I might not have mentioned it, but mobs would do way more damage than in the first dimension.
Game A: Diamond is the strongest tier.
Game B: Difficulty ramps up, diamond is suddenly so weak it's like your first night (in your own words).
This has two potential results:
A) You basically replay the game as if diamond were leather. And being that nothing is stronger than diamond, you are stuck with this throughout the game, with it only getting weaker as dimensions progress.
B) You basically replay the game as if diamond were leather. New tiers would need to be added per each new dimension to emulate the original tier progression system of the first dimension.

Ah. I did not see the excessive amount of "spoiler" tagged content in the OP. Do you really need every little section hidden like that?
But, to be fair, how would this be much different from just restarting a world five times? Sure, you keep your stuff this way, but it seems like quite a lot to add for a consolation of rather questionable worth (given that the vast majority of items are easy enough to regain).

I didn't mention this in the thread either (I guess this was kind of a bad time to post it), but the mobs should be a little harder despite having even better armor on. This way it still feels more challenging.
The spoilers might have been unnecessary, but I didn't want everything just right there in one spot. You might not notice it, but this is a lot of text, and this topic is going to have a whole lot more stuff added to it.
Also keep in mind that this was a mod suggestion first. I only moved it here cause someone said it would fit in Minecraft, so I decided to give it a shot.
