EDIT: This was originally made as a mod suggestion sort of thing. I decided to move it to the actual Minecraft suggestions section, so I'd like feedback on whether or not this would actually be good in Minecraft or not. This is also extremely W.I.P.

I never quite felt like The End was a good way to just say you beat the game. It's not exciting. There's this dragon flying around that takes a while to actually try and attack you, and when it tries to attack you all you have to do is shoot it or swing your sword at it and it will fly again.

Now, onto the actual suggestion. Here's the entire idea in a nutshell before you read all of the details. After killing the enderdragon, a little crate is spawned in the air that contains a key. This key is used to unlock the entrance to a new dimension. The thing you have to unlock spawns underground very rarely. It's a container sort of thing, and right clicking on it creates a light blue pad thing that glows. Stepping on it will teleport you to the next dimension.

This dimension is basically the old world, but way harder. But now that you've got all your diamond stuff from the last world (at least i hope), you should be able to defend yourself. It's basically like your first night all over again.

This whole process continues, but with different bosses for each dimension. There are five dimensions in total. Each time it gets harder, but there are new ores and other things in each world.

Here's what I wrote on notepad (sorry about all the spoilers Posted Image):

Spoiler

Sorry if some of the things mentioned in this aren't really explained, I'll explain them later. I've also spent a great deal of time writing thinking of these ideas and writing them, so I'd appreciate feedback.

EDIT 2: (you can just skip this entire edit if you want.) You might be thinking that if Notch were to actually read this (i know that's basically impossible), he wouldn't wanna add in all of these specific new mobs and new ores and everything that were thought of by just one person. I mean, imagine him just adding everything I mentioned. That sounds basically impossible, right? So just look at this entire thread as just a big example of what I think this whole idea might be like. If I were to just post this thread without any example whatsoever of what all these dimensions would be like, it wouldn't be very appealing.

New update:

I added the textures to the game, and made some new ones. This is what the ores would look like, and the ore blocks for the second dimension:

Posted Image

From left to right:

Kunzite, Cuprite, Citrine, Jadeite, Cobalt.

I was thinking to get to the next dimension, you would need to unlock this chest thingy. It can be found in caves kinda rarely. You can find them generated in the first dimension, but you need a key to unlock it. The key does not dissapear when thrown onto the ground.

But let's say you're exploring a cave, then a spider jumps out of nowhere and pushes you into the lava. What do you do now that you've lost your key? It will respawn in that little crate in The End. It's just kind of hard to get back if it gets destroyed. But if you drop your key somewhere and you don't know where you left it, that's where the Key Locator comes in handy.

You craft the Key Locator like a compass, but instead of Redstone you put the Key itself in it, and instead of Iron ingots it's diamond. After you craft it, you get the Key back too. The Key is only used once, and it's use is to open the container. Once you use the Key on the container, it turns into this little light blue pad about as tall as a Redstone Repeater. Once you step on it, you spawn in day time in the new world a block in front of the portal. Once you go back you will appear one block in front of the portal again just so you don't continually switch worlds without being able to control it.

Here's what the container might look like:

So, can anyone tell me what they think of this idea?

I like this idea. I too was disappointed by the enderdragon, and thought of something similar, but I'm waiting for the modding api before I start making any mods.

Very Impressive. You should put this in the suggestions area. It sounds good enough to fit into the game. :)

I've updated the thread with lots of spoilers to make things more organized, and added a new mob and edited a few other things.

Impressive. I, for one, didn't really like the End Boss fight, for a Sandbox Game. But what your going with, Is amazing! Full support!

But with all these amazing ores, wouldn't you eventually end up with a tool where you mine things instantly / never take damage?

I forgot to explain that. I don't necessarily have this completely figured out, but either all materials for each world would just be harder, or each set of tools is only effective against the blocks in one world.

Huh. I guess that could be pretty bad. With armor/weapons and everything, all of the old mobs would basically just be useless. :/

EDIT: Yeah, this idea isn't gonna work. Fall damage wouldn't be effective at all, and I've noticed several flaws with this thread now.

EDIT 2: Maybe it could be re-coded so that instead of just taking no damage at all when you get hit by a really weak mob when you have strong armor, it just deals 0.5 hearts? I mean, for each world the amount of mobs would increase greatly, so it would still be pretty easy to die.

EDIT 3: This might be the solution. It isn't really the best, but it's the only way to keep things fair. Fall damage will just depend on what armor you're wearing. This basically does mean you wouldn't take any fall damage, but I don't actually think that's too much of a problem.

No matter what, mobs will always at least deal 0.5 hearts, even if they are really weak.

I would make the new dimension look different from the overworld. Maybe an orange sky?

Yeah, good idea. Then again, the sky color would have to be changed for all the other dimensions too.

It seems like the new materials should just add functionality, instead of making ridiculously tough gear. Old materials and mods would still be there in the new relm.

That is actually a really good idea. I'll try and change what the tools do. It's gonna be hard thinking up tons of ideas for all the tools though.

Definitely seems like a pretty cool idea and I can see you have put a lot of work into this already.

I think you're wrong about not adding in specific information for all the dimensions and ores and such, though. Speculation and imagination = fun.

That's odd. I don't really know what to tell you. If you're using Chrome, you could always try Ctrl + U to view the web page source code. You'll kinda be able to read it from there but it will look really weird.

New mob idea

Turkey

Spoiler

On another note, I haven't really thought of any ideas for tools yet. Like zeel said, the tools should just have different features, but I'm really not sure what to do about that. I'm also not sure what to do about the weapons and armor if the mobs are gonna be way stronger. If I don't make weapons stronger, you will hardly be able to kill the mobs. If I don't make armor stronger, you'll die immediately.
