Full Mod Overview by Me


This mod was developed as a little side project of mine. I had seen previous Meteor mods before with some of the features I have here, but they have all been discontinued or missing. After many hours of coding I have completed my goal and come out with an awesome mod. This mod includes many excellent features that make it stand out from the rest of the old Meteor mods. The features of this mod are listed below.

Features:
  • Meteors Fall to the ground and explode, forming craters that house various minerals from space.
  • New Tools that give different properties: Magnetization, slowing enemies, burning enemies, mining underwater faster, etc.
  • New Armor Sets that give you different abilities: Magnetization, walking on water, immunity to fire, etc.
  • Mine all the minerals from the craters as quick as possible because the debris from the crash will cool, giving less minerals
  • Protect your precious creations with Meteor Shields that can be fully upgraded to protect a huge area of land.
  • Varying sizes and types of Meteors
  • Craft Detectors to find out WHERE a meteor is going to land
  • Craft a Meteor Timer to determine WHEN a meteor is going to land
  • Summon meteors down onto your friends with Meteor Summoners
  • Configure the mod to your liking with many configuration options
  • Fully SMP compatible!
  • Multilingual!

Notes for V2.9+:
Some IDs have been changed to help further compatibility by default. To reset the IDs back to default in your configuration file, just remove all the BLOCK configuration properties and it will be automatically regenerated to the default IDs. Realize that setting these back to default will cause all blocks related to this mod to disappear in your world, which can indirectly clean up all crash sites, but will also remove your meteor shields. So PAY ATTENTION TO THIS. Mod will still work with the older IDs though.

Previous Versions:

Installation Instructions:
1.Install the Forge API
2.Run Minecraft once
3.Put the ZIP/JAR file in the mods folder located in your .minecraft folder (Do not unzip)
4.Run Minecraft and have fun! Posted Image

Server Installation Instructions:
1.Similar to installing in on the client, install the Forge API first into the minecraft-server.jar
2. Run the server once
3. Then put the zip/JAR file into the mods folder
4. Then if you wish to edit configuration, run the server once to generate the file in the config folder.
5. Once you have everything configured, start the server again and have fun WITH FRIENDS!! Posted Image

-Meteor Shields will now collect some materials from meteors they block
-Added Meteorite, Kreknorite, and Frozen Iron Ingots (used for most crafting recipes now)
-Decoration Blocks for the above materials added

-Meteors now fall at a slant, unless they are summoner (in which case they fall straight down)

-Meteor Shields block Kitty Comets
-All auto-enchanted items will no longer require a right-click to enchant the item
-All auto-enchanted items also can't be disenchanted then re-enchanted automatically (so no farming for exp with Enchanting Plus)
-Meteor ore now gives experience when mined
-Various tooltips have been added to the Detectors to help explain what each detector detects, as well as, telling you if it has found a meteor/crash.
-Detectors now work as intended
-The Meteor Timer block has now been updated to work more properly and will also take into account if meteors only fall at night.
-Two game rules have been added: meteorsFall and summonMeteors. This uses Minecraft's system of setting game rules via /gamerule to turn off/on the falling of Meteors and the ability to summon meteors with the summoners.
-Meteor Shields now drop red meteor gems that have been applied to them if the shield is broken.
-Red Meteor Gems now have a tooltip explaining their use
-Meteor Shields when charged now inform the player that the shield can be upgraded using red meteor gems
-Protected Land Testers now have a tooltip explaining that the tester has a one-time usage.
-Network traffic has been reduced with less packets being communicated between the server and client.
-The mod should now handle multiple dimensions properly.
-The tick rate for meteor updates has been reduced to once per second rather 20 times per second.
-The mod now uses the world's data folder to read/write from for "Ghost Meteors" and "Crashed Chunks" (used to prevent meteors from falling in an area where a meteor recently landed). This also uses MC's system of saving dat files, similar to how maps are saved. So there should be no more errors with linux users.
-Various sounds have been added to the Meteor Shield (thanks to mucusBones)
-Summoners now give off a particle trail when thrown
-Meteor crash sites now sound hot (except Frezarite of course)
2.10.2:
-Fixed Crash when a meteor crashes
-Added missing crafting recipes
-Updated to MC 1.5.2
-Updated German Language pack to make sense
2.10.1:
-Entity spawning bugfix
-Added multilingual capabilities (check github)
-New Detector Textures
-New Achivements added
-Meteor Timer block added
-New Recipes for Random and Unknown Summoners
-All drops are now attracted with the Magnetization enchantment

Multilingual Support:
With update 2.10, this mod now has compatibility for multiple languages. Currently there are only two different languages other than English(US) that are available: German and Chinese. If you wish to help with translation, please check out the LANG file here: https://github.com/A...lang/en_US.lang

Once you have translated it over to your language, either message me on these forums or submit a Pull Request on Github for me to add it to the repository.I really hope I get some help with this because a lot of people really wish for this mod to be translated. ALL help will be greatly appreciated.

During the development of the mod, I had a guy that made most of the textures for me. Firecat did a great job with the armor and Alien Creeper but I probably need better textures for everything else. I'm willing to see anything if someone wants to make better textures for this mod. All credits will obviously go to whoever made the textures.

lol, its polka-dotted...like the dance.:D So how do the shield and torch work, and why do they look like modified redstone torches and furnaces?  :rolleyes:  But yeah, seems pretty cool, I'll wait and see how long it takes them to add it to the vanilla game. :P

:P The shield you just place on the ground and let it charge then it will protect 41 chunks of your land around it. The torch you just place on the ground. If it lights up, that means that block is protected. If it doesn't light up, put a meteor shield down to protect that land fool! lol And yes, I think I've figured out that the textures need help. I'm up for suggestions. :)

When I right-clicked on the Meteor shield,it said saving chunks and shut down.
