Minecraft Forum Community Spotlight

For a long time, we would put up people's creations here on the front page. As I sought ways to provide players with access to amazing creations by their fellow gamers, a thought occurred to me - Why not make a video series that focuses entirely on the community?" So, it is with no further delay that I am proud to present the Minecraft Forum Community Spotlight series! What is it, you ask? It is nothing less than a show built around player-created mods, texture packs and other amazing creations, to bring you incredible community-generated stuff for your game - even from authors you may not have heard of before!

Our Mission; What This Can Do For You

It is my hope to give mod authors, artists, map-makers and other innovators from the community the chance to shine right here on the front page, to help them get the most out of their hard work. How can you get your (or your favorite) work spotlighted here? It's easy!

  • Create something awesome
  • Send an email to this address, specifying what your creation is, and/or including a link to your thread
  • Our content team reviews your work, and if it's amazing enough to be highlighted, we'll contact you about it - if you get a confirmation email, you're headed to the Community Spotlight!

That's all there is to it! Now, without further delay, some information about today's spotlighted mod:

Author: w3(r4ft
Thread (includes download links, building information & more): Click here!
Notes: This mod adds lasers, sensors, refractors and more to your game. What can it do? More than can be easily described here - check out the video and the creator's thread, above!

This mod requires other mods to function - ModLoader, ModLoaderMP and Forge. Be sure to read the installation instructions carefully! Don't forget - if you like w3(r4ft's mod, show him some love by dropping a post in his thread telling him!

The Minecraft Forum Community Spotlight series is on-going, so there is no final deadline to submit your creations for review. If you think your work (or another mod/map/texture pack you like), is good enough, send it to us - you could be next on the front page! To see the first episode, just click the banner above, and check out the Laser Mod!

Mod spotlights have existed for ages. Curse is just trying to take over the community. And do it secretly, too! Why else would they need to make a new youtube user to upload curse videos?

It's a pity, really.
Nabobery!, a(n outdated) texture pack sans banner! (Banner coming soon)

I'm guessing that you are going to get a lot of suggestions/requests for spotlights. Maybe you could expand the show in the future to do modding news where you can highlight new mods and old mods that are updated with new content.

Not sure I understand your point.

We have an exceptionally talented video creator working for Curse (Sacheverell) and utilising his talents to create great content for the community is a no-brainer. We're not pushing poor quality content on you, the content produced by Sacheverell rivals the best Minecraft content around and I'm confident in saying that the majority of viewers agree, just look at the comments on the video.

"You sounded very official and presented well. I loved it! :D"
"Happy faceHAPPY FACEEEEEEEE"
"Awesome narration. +1 subscriber :)"
"cool"
"i like this. but your voice its....its amazing...."
"Awsome...thats all i can say 0.0"
"looks good and FIRST"

I can't find any negative comments besides yours. I also do not understand the point regarding the "secret channel". The channel was created to allow users to subscribe only to the community spotlight videos, to allow better choice for users. The account is not a secret, it's clearly branded with all the Curse logos and links.

I understand that you may not like the videos, that's fine, to each their own, but to claim this is some sort of nefarious attempt by us to control the community makes no sense. There is room for lots of great videos to be produced, just because we're now providing this (excellent) series that doesn't mean nobody else can... we're just adding to the collection of great Minecraft video content that exists.

Yer because helping to get people who have worked on things recognition is really "taking over the community". No. It's helping the community.

Hey sorry about this, but do you guys think if all the best modders and maybe Jeb and Notch or just team Mojang got together and made a minecraft time machine mod that would take you back to different minecraft versions do you people think that it is possible?

Are you sure it's not a secret plot by Curse to take over the world?

Or instead of watching Curse do this, you could watch the Minecraft Mondays show... which has community stuff, snapshot updates, and contests all in one place...
