I've followed multiple tutorials for setting up a minecraft vinilla server, and I can't open the batch file, it closes immediatly after I open it. I was told to change my Jre7 to Jre6, and I did confirm that was in the java folder in my program files and program files (x86) I have no clue what is happening, I will post exactly what the batch file has in it.

@echo off
path=%PATH%;%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe
java -Xms512M -Xmx1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar
Well, time to choose a signature. No idea. So I guess I'll just say hello.
HELLO

My friend had a vanilla server and the batch file is not meant to stay up i think. I then should pop up a little box with the server properties.

EDIT: What do you mean, single player servers?!?!?!? <_<

All you have to do for Vanilla is download the minecraft_server thing at minecraft.net
Start up. Close it. Set the config settings.  Run it again.

Yep, batch files are only needed for bukkit, not vanilla. Also, wrong section.

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe"
-Xmx1536M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar
pause

Thats what I have in my batch file. Its a vanilla server and it works. Hope this helps.

Edit: Note I give it a max of 1.5GB of RAM to use. You may have to change that.

Should this post not be moved to the Minecraft Servers section?

Also, just to ensure, are you using 64 bit or 32 bit java?

I would assume 32 bit from what I can see in the batch file script.
