Your 5x xp mod for Minecraft 1.2.3 seems weird, I killed one skelle and got to level 19, not sure if you put the wrong download, also can you make a 1.5x xp mod?
Yes i have also noticed a big increase in XP... i will try to tweak it some more, the new MCP 6.0 is just giving me a headache.
Will take a stab at it tomorrow, and also add 1.5x
Also, you should add the decompiled source code . so we can edit and tweak it.
There are no source code....
Install MCP
Throw in Minecraft files in "jars"
decompile
edit 'EntityXPOrb.java' under '/src/minecraft/net/minecraft/src'
Find the value of 'par1EntityPlayer.addExperience(xpValue)' and edit to (xpValue * 5) for 5x, but in the new 1.2.3 things seem off now...
reobfucate
copy by.class into minecraft or just mycraft or whatever modding method works for you
I will happily give this task on to anybody else, i simply don't have the time for this, the new files do work, but the X value if not as it should be, still helps alot to get XP alot faster

yeah i know how toe dit the source and everything, but I thought you used modLoader and made it all complicated.

No i like to keep it simple :), no modloader, no ad.fly, just direct download, add and play
And again this is like the simplest mod, it is more a tweak then a mod if you ask me, nevertheless it still works and does the job.
I'm checking this thread hourly and will be all over testing the server side mod when the tools are ready =D
Well im still having issues with MCP 6.0, if anybody wants to take over here and make a new thread then PM me
On the issue with mcp, in my case it is a matter of chance if it will work on the client and still no dice on the server side, no matter what i do it will not see 'EntityXPOrb.java' as changed and make a reobfucate of it, even if i change ALOT in it and add several lines of /*
If you have the mcp 6.0 ready and have 5 minutes then please test if you can get it to work, recipe in post #1
So I downloaded the mod and was disappointed when there was no change, so I tried the 75x and the 2000x, and still nothing. Then I realized I was putting the file into one of my backups instead of my main minecraft folder(oops). After I fixed that I killed a chicken and got about 5 levels... almost made me fall out of my chair. It would be nice to have a GUI type thing to possibly change it in game instead of having to close out every time you want to tweak the multiplier, but great find nonetheless.
drop that class file in your minecraft_server.jar and it should give you 10x xp. I killed a chicken and got two levels instantly.
I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS MESSING ANYTHING UP.
I am busy tonight, so if someone else could try that out I would appreciate it. It worked for me but I only killed one chicken to verify (and one cow in an unmodified server jar as a experimental control).

Cool, how does it feel to get on the "modding" scene, was VERY easy right :P, i made a link in post #1 to your post so users can try it.

Tested your mod on my server and it works beautifully! No more long waits for XP! 's to you!
Haha well it's pretty easy when someone else give you step by step instructions!
Well even then it did not take me long to make it to begin with, as stated this was all i was missing in 1.1 so i decided to take a stab at it my self.
And posting here a few weeks after i made it was just to give it to others that like me needed this, but now i really just need someone to take over, even if this only takes a few minutes (if my mcp setup worked.....) i don't have much time these days so i really just want to pass it on to someone here that can maintain that simple task of making this "mod" when minecraft is updated, and if anybody needs additional x than what's offered.
And maybe someone can make a modloader version where you can select ingame (via gui) the amount of X needed.
So again PM me if you want to start your own thread and carry this "mod" on.

Depending on modding method (direct, mycraft, magicloader etc...)
You can throw it directly in minecraft.jar (remember to delete META-INF)
You can throw it in your 'mods' folder if you like me use MyCraft
