[Blazing_Skylines]

I'm trying to get grass to grow in my tree farm, the problem is, how do I get grass there in the first place?

If someone could tell me, I'd appreaciate it very much.

Things I've tried:

1. Dirt staircase (It stopped growing somewhere along the way)

2. Piston-Pushing (Took me forever, but just as it reached the tree farm.... POOF, it turns to dirt.)

i think it needs some good amount of light to grow....try dirt staircase again, but put a torch on every stair

If you make a staircase there must be torches on the wall so the grass gets light

Try Dirt staircase but do 2 blocks before you do down one more room but it works (done this kind of thing before )

Use creative or too many items to get grass blocks

Turn brightness down to Moody, that way you can see where you ACTUALLY need torches, then the grass will grow down the dirt staircase without dying.   =

enchant a shovel and hope for silk touch. then harvest grass blocks till the moon comes up.

Thanks for the replies guys. No worries, I finally got a SINGLE grass block inside.

u can't without have a grass block to get it u need a iron shovel or above and get a silk touch ability
it a lv 30 enchantment then just use replace the cobblestone with dirt

put torches everywhere on the dirt, it dosen't prevent the grass to spread. Also as already stated : silk touch.

Might as well do it that way from now on. The dirt staircase method can be very time consuming depending on how it's made. The grass probably never even stopped growing, it just took a long time to spread to the next block.

For future dirt staircase use; it often works better if you make the staircase two blocks wide so the grass can spread diagonally as well.

Obviously the best way still is to use a tool enchanted with silk touch.

Bone meal + grass = Tall Grass. Bone meal + dirt = nothing.

Make a staircase. Here's a compact one:

The grass block must have a light level of 9, and must be connected to another grass block. Make sure it's all connected properly.
If not, you'll have to stick with dirt until you get silk touch.

You will have to get the grass to spread to your farm, or you could use a Silk Touch tool.

Were you pushing the grass block down hitting the dirt? That could have caused it.
