This is a fan continuation of Andeh6's
Alternacraft
Over 9000 dynamic downloads so far!


AlternaCraft is a texture pack that utilizes most of the original textures but also modifies certain aspects of it to make it look better; in my opinion anyway... Such changes include better armor, tools, golden wheat and many more little changes. This texture pack aims to change the things that could be improved, but also keeping as close to vanilla Minecraft as possible. I will not be profiting off of these fan updates, they exist as fan updates only.
As such I wish for the fans of this pack to be vocal about future updates and even donate textures if possible.
Small FYI I will not be updating the pack for every snapshot.
Next major update will likely be for 1.4
Old iron, sapling and dispenser textures will remain.

I like the new textures, but you should change cobblestone to fit with moss stone. They look weird together in the last picture.

Yeah I noticed that.
The screen cap is dated, I fixed that issue a while ago.
I'll upload a newer screeny shortly.

Looks good! but i think you should leave SandStone and Sand the same Colors as before.

Yeah, I'm having some difficulties with the sandstone specifically.
I may delay/abandon the orangish' desert textures and include it in the MCPatchers colors mod.
So (when installed) the mod will dynamically change sand/sandstone to orange in the dessert biome and the default for beaches.
The new moss stone (so far) seems like a definite inclusion.
However, I may be forced to include the lighter green version initially as I've run into visual "noise" issues with the darker texture...

Decided to go with the mcpacther/optifine colors mod for biome specific sand/sandstone.
Looks just as good if not better (in my opinion).

I love the new sand and cactus textures. But if you can, I have always hated how pumpkins come pre-carved, as if there's a pumpkin carving monster. So if you can, can you remove the carved pumpkin face texture. so it looks the same on all sides, until you turn it into a jack-o-lantern, then it gets the face.

Ha! For personal use I always "de-carved" the default pumpkin.
Never liked the idea of carved pumpkin patches...
My only issue with the proposed idea: When warn as a helmet there are still eye sockets in first-person but none in third...
I could make it so when worn you're blinded... nah.
We'll see.

Here is a newer, constantly updated texture pack that keeps the feel of minecraft but changes those annoying bits and has some big changes like Villager skins.

PLEASE do not advertise, I find your texture pack...not the best, there are a lot of changes needed like Melons, etc. Alternacraft is probably the best alternate default Minecraft texture pack. I like the villagers though (had a longer look )

Alright.
I'll add a pre-release this weekend or maybe on the release of the next snapshot (Monday?).
Just need to put together a valid pack that represents the final release a bit more (I'm testing a few features out separately).

Hi everyone! The "snapshot" pack is coming along quite well.
Question though:  Could someone please direct me to the default neather portal animation (preferably formatted to mcpacther style).

[Edit] Do people want a more "copper/orange" iron texture?
       Noticed the boost in popularity that concept has had
