I find it ironic. The internet always abuses the word nigger and I found it offensive. Now that everyone is fussing it about I feel like it's nothing bad.

It means "Know Your Place". During segregation that's what white people called black people. You can see where that went and now it's considered a swear by most people.

Yes it is, the influence of the Dutch kolonists made the language... In fact it is completely understandable when you know Dutch

It was used without racial or cultural significance up until the late 19th century, to the early 20th century. Honestly about the only worse thing you can call anyone of african descent in the united states, is a "coon" which has a much more derogatory intent behind it. Either is a terrible thing to say of, or to anyone of that culture.
