Environment: Swamp AI: Hostile! Drop: Hag Eye, potion ingredient that would boost night vision and invisibility effects in potions, but also boost damage and nausea effects. Misc: These ferociously malevolent beings dwell in the deep waters that fill swamps, as well as occasionally in lakes located in deep forests.
They are wholly evil and eat human flesh. They are of comparable strength to humans, but don't carry weapons. Instead, they live beneath the surface of the water and wait for a person to come too close to the waters edge. At which point, they burst forth and drag the person kicking and screaming into the water. If they want to survive, the victim has to kill the Hag quickly, or drown.
If the victim manages to escape the Hag without killing it, then the Hag will leave the water and give chase, attacking with ferocity.
Frightening.
If several Hags happen to encounter one another, they will start brewing vile potions. They will even throw down a cauldron and start working. Their potions would be mostly poison.
I dunno. I find the nose amusing, but I'm just not feeling this design. It's too chibi. That design works for something nice like a grove sprite, but not something hostile like this.
Personally I think you should go with proportions closer to that of your troll design, but thin and scrawny. Long arms to make it easier to grab the person and easier to swim with.
Mr hazard may I use this mob idea in my thread forbidden forest biome slash mob suggestion? I'm making my own models with blender but a hag was one of the key mobs and this is brilliant. I commend you for youre kick ass mobs

I am strongly considering shrinking the head and lengthening the arms to grotesque length and using this shape for another mob type I had in mind... just so you know you're not alone in your critique. I haven't yet decided if I want to go ahead with it. I was planning on hearing some feedback from more people. I had also considered naming it the Crone or the Grindylow, which are both common names used for the same kind of creature.
It adds a new element of gameplay, in that the mob can "grab hold" of the player.
However, the time it takes for a player to drown would be plenty of time for someone to be dragged under, punch the hag to death, then enjoy a little underwater swim before returning to the surface. Maybe you should drown five times faster when held by a hag?
Yeah, I was thinking about that also. I wasn't sure if you should either take damage along side the drowning meter depleting, or if the drowning meter should just deplete faster. I think I'm more partial to the former.

i dont like it...too scary..
add aligators they do the acaxt same thing!!!!
The point is to be scary my good man. Scary and unique. So thank you for the compliment!
I agree with calling it Grindylow and changing the design. I also think that when dragged under water, you should take 1 heart of damage every 1.5 seconds with every time you take damage from it causing your oxygen to deplete quicker for a moment. Think of it as it's squeezing the air out of you.
Dude I've actually started viewing ur posts because u r so good at these mob things.
But regarding the topic, if the swamp biome was introduced I think this Is a perfect mob to be brought in with it, nice work
Aren't swamps in the biome list? They just don't have any cool features right now... I thought
you know what you shod do if you have the time and making these is not to hard you could take orders or something just a idea and also of your mob ideas
saving pigs from deadly monsters should be one of the many goals of minecraft imo.
Beautifully, simple. imo too many people suggest ninety million things in their suggestions. and although well written and coherent i think simpler updates have a better chance of making it in.
I made an alligator / crocodile graphic and thread a long time ago :/
oh well
ANYWAY, back to the Hag, nice name but it is too feminine (not in the fact that it is big boobed or wears pink, mainly cause it looks like a witch from hanzel and grettel)
and they should make an old woman cackle when they are around . . . idk o3o

True, its also more specific to the behavior of the creature.

And you know me and how I love to suggest drops for your creatures... but I feel that having them drop various mushrooms is perfect.

I should try making up some mobs myself sometime.

What did you use to make that?
I would be really sad if he didn't add your mobs to the game.
