Im sure its 23 or 24 but when I made mine, they take 2 hits to kill. D:

23 I believe. You could make a water elevator then have them fall nearby so it reduces traveling and you'll still be in range for the monster spawner to still work.  Have one in a SMP server, brings in lots of money to.

zombies have one heart of 'armor.' That means there is no height they will be a one hit kill at. Its just one of those things you have to accept.  At 23 blocks, they will drop down to one heart of damage, but it also takes one hit to get through their 'armor,' making it two hits. At 24 blocks they die. no way around it, unless you can come up with some way to remove their armor beforehand, like a cactus in  drop shaft, perhaps. Try it, it might work. i might try it too!

Wood or Stone swords (depending on available resources) are a great thing to keep stocked up on at XP farms. Or supplies to make potions of instant health.
Under no circumstances do I want villagers building ugly little houses in my world. That's my job.
