I was wondering how much bandwidth can a 24/7 minecraft server use in a week with about 50 people? because i have 49 of me and my friends playing at a time (50 if you count me). if anyone else has a sever too can you help me please? thank you for the help
why don't you get tested too!
And using Eoin@ClanSlots' suggestion, it will take a bit under a gigabyte of your usage (700mb) for 50 players per hour. Sorry for not putting this with the previous post.
Hi, I use flactis hosting and my slots of the server is 75 during the week we have about 50 to 60 players on and we have a 5gb plan my ram never gets above 2000 MBs and the bandwidth is unlimited and I pay 55 dollars a month so I recommend it!
Would a bandwidth of 30mbps download and 5mbps of upload be sufficient for 50 players 24/7?
Nope.5 mbps would be enough for 5 people, maybe a few more..With 0.4 mbps I could barely have one friend play with me. It lagged for him whenever a new chunk had to be loaded, but other than that it was mostly okay. Besides that, ping to a home broadband computer is much worse than to a server, in most cases.50 players also require you to have good hardware, depending on how you calculate. 10 players per GB or 20? CPU load with lots of rotating redstone is hell, other than that it's not so bad.
Generally I run 25-30 players and only use around 10% CPU power, and a few gigs of ram (i have 32gb on the rig) and a very nice SATA 3 SSD. The server runs 20tps+ constantly (unless I do a 30m+ block world edit or some crazy thing like that). I ask constantly if anyone is having issues with lag or chunk loading and no one reports any. It depends on the player's computer and connection too. I'm just wondering if my network could hold more slots.

thanks that was very useful

The server would probably not be on 24/7 maybe 6 hours a day.
Thanks for the help.

RAM available: 1.5GB/3GB
Your upload is terrible. You might be able to get away with it though, doesn't hurt to try.
