I'm new to MC so please don't laugh or get mad if this is a stupid question.....

I've played for a few months btw, but only in survival mode, and lately only in peaceful because I kept losing too many things in Normal.

I watched one of paulsoaresjr's videos on YouTube today - the latest one uploaded.  In it he's playing survival and is in a cave, but says he went in there prior to videoing and flew around to find diamond.

My question is, how can you fly when you're in survival mode?  I'm on single player, and I can't work out how to change in the same world from survival to creative, or how to fly in survival.

Anyone help me here?  Sorry if this is a bad question, I'm a "Minecraft Mom" and when I ask my kids for help, they laugh at me.

Singleplayer commands allow you to type commands in-game. So just type /fly and you should be able to fly.

No, you can't fly in survival without the use of mods. You can fly in creative by double tapping the spacebar though.

And no, it's impossible to change from Survival to Creative without one of these two mods:

Mod would be short for a modification to the game, they're all made by 3rd parties, usually people who play the game, there's loads of them laying around.

A mod is a modification to the game, you can find minecraft mods on this forum, by going to forum, then mods

and you can look around for singleplayer commands, etc etc

P.S: i reccomend before you go any deeper into the game you should get a small amount of programming/gamers experience for obstacles such as memory errors, mod installing, debugging, etc etc

a mod is something people make to add to the game, single player commands can help you fly

minecraft.net doesnt have them and only some let you fly

Single Player Commands and Zombe's modpack both have flying mods.

Flying can be useful at times to get over mountains, or to get a better angle to take a screenshot from.

I often use it in ravines.

I always use Zombe's Fly Mod. Very customizable and easy to use. :)

Just NBTedit. No mod necessary. Or use the /gamemode command.

This is only useful with mods (im not sure which ones) and servers.

Well, in 1.5.2 you can enable cheats and type /gamemode 1 and go to creative in the middle of a survival world but in your version unless you have a mod you can't fly.
