How do you set a spawn point on a vanilla server?

if /setspawn doesnt work, then i have no clue and dont think it is possible.

I was thinking maybe there was a variable you could set in the properties file for the server.

That might work though.. it's at least worth giving a shot.

try putting the map in mcedit and move the spawn point with that

Setspawn is a command added with mods or Bukkit plugins. It has never been a vanilla command.

@OP, you would have to open and modify level.dat. You will need an NBT editor.
