My friend has a server he wants me to play on, but it requires hamachi. Ive never heard of it and dont know anything about it. Has anyone had any problems with it? For example, does it give viruses? Will it get my computer hacked? Are their any strange glitches? etc. etc. Tell me if you have seen any of these symptoms so I know if its safe to use.
The only reason it WOULD be harmful is if somebody in the network decided to use hamachi to send a virus, but if you trust your friend enough, then you will be fine.
Hamachi doesn't contain any virus. It's semi-safe to use, just only connect to networks that you know. I used to use it as an IM between my friends. It is a secondary network, so it can become a little of a nuisance, but not harmful.
What Hamachi does it is pretends that the link between you and the other Hamachi user is within your private, home network (The network of computers in your house that connects you all to the same internet line). In this case, your friend's server wants you to use Hamachi to allow you to connect through his firewall as whoever installed the server is not computer-wise or knows/can't be bothered to research anything to do with topology and open a single port on their router.
Hamachi is used because people are too lazy to make things secure, there is a big security hole opened by Hamachi, it practically allows a computer outside of your network onto your in-home network, they can potentially (If you allow them) view your files, connect to your computer network's internet and install nasty viruses onto your machines (All of them that are in your home network).
However, this is a worse-case scenario, if someone asks you to use Hamachi you can be certain that they're an idiot with computers, so they won't know how to install viruses to do anything nasty to your network, in fact, it's normal for kids who can't yet read guides on topology to use hamachi, lots and lots of minecraft servers ran by children use it because it's easier and none of them know about the security holes.
Bottom line is: It's safe to use, but don't always use it and don't set up any shared folders on your network (If you don't know what that means, you're fine).
In the case of Hamachi, ignorance = safety, and if you use hamachi it's a guarantee that someone has ignorance.
Hope this biased answer helps you.

Thanks I dont think I will use it Because of some shared files and things I dont want to be poked at.
Hamachi, The Program is safe but you've got to understand your creating a network that isn't broken when you turn the program off so even if you've got hamachi turn off i can still access your computer change. So i would suggest not using the program publicly or even privately because the change is always there.
Also on that Note, I think it should be against the Rules to Post Hamachi Servers on theses forums.
So only friends can see a few files in your computer? Does it work with some sort of friend system?
You can lock out that ability for your friends and pretty much everyone on that network/group. But people (like real hackers or something) can do some easier trough Hamachi.

Hamachi is safe, it's simply a program that opens a VPN. VPNS, however, open up a whole new playground for people with dishonest intentions to play in. VPNs can be dangerous, Hamachi is safe.

Life is not measured in the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
The simple question you should ask is, would you allow these people to connect to your home network? (Which is kind of what Hamachi does).
In your case, with some friends it should be fine. You should however avoid joining public servers. The files accessible are only the ones you have put in shared folders.

Actually, we have found multiple viruses from hamachi and it is can shut down you computer, we viruses that are connected to hamachi.
Your post makes absolutely no sense. "We viruses that are connected to hamachi."?
Hamachi is a program that tricks the computers connected and makes them think they're all on the same network together, like LAN. People connected to that network can only access the files and folders that you have shared. If you want to stay safe, make sure your anti-virus and firewall are all up to date. You shouldn't connect to strangers on hamachi, just the people you know and trust. Because it is possible to get hacked and anyone connected to your network can send files to your computer which could be harmful. Hamachi itself is not a virus.

The only reason it WOULD be harmful is if somebody in the network decided to use hamachi to send a virus, but if you trust your friend enough, then you will be fine.
This. If your friend is a douche in general, you probably shouldn't let him on...
