Hi, for some reason, when I download the 64 bit Java installation, it doesn't seem to work on my minecraft so I tried deleting my old 32 bit Java installation but then my Minecraft wouldn't even open up at all! I am using a laptop with a 64 bit operating system with intel core i5 and it's pretty new. Does anyone know how to make it work cos I'm sick of the short render distance, thanks in advance.

Try downloading the Java 7 x64bit offline version. Or the online version, I forgot.

By following this guide I was able to solve the same issue you are. Although it has aged and the link in that topic looks different too me. But at the least you can still allocate more RAM around 1500mb to Java and you will still run MC fine on majority of settings maybe not 512x TP but lesser is possible.

If you could only run on short with 32 bit, 64 bit isn't going to fix that issue.  To fix that you need to upgrade your video card most likely.
