The hell is going on here, i need help, i go to open minecraft, it tries to download the latest update, then it stops at 40% of Lwjgl_util.jar, then goes to that plus some other stuff.

Same thing here, stopped at 40%.
Tried it on two computers, same problem. Tried downlaoding new minecraft.exe, same problem. If I can't fix this I may have to go outside for once.

Follow this steps:
Windows:
1. Go to Run
2. Type: %APPDATA%
3. Find .minecraft open it and copy your saves
4. Remove .minecraft
5. open minecraft and it will download files.
6. Close minecraft!
7. paste your saves in the .minecraft folder
8. You should now be able to play
Mac:
1. go to users/library/application support/Minecraft
2. Copy your saves
3. Remove your minecraft folder in application support
4. open minecraft and it will download files.
5. Close minecraft!
6. go back to users/library/application support/Minecraft and paste your saves
7. you should now be able to play
Windows:
1. Go to Run

I've also got a similar problem (stops at 44%).

same problem here... stops at 38% thou...
this is the stuff i have done:
-new launcher with old version of minecraft
-old launcher with new version of minecraft
-uninstall EVERYTHING that has to do with java and minecraft, plus i removed the exe from desktop
-removed .minecraft and pasted in a WORKING .minecraft map from a friend

Do the download process, and if a minecraft.jar saves, you're good. Then download 2.6 LWJGL off of SourceForge. Not illegal because LWJGL is a java runtime, not a minecraft class.

Thank you for replying but what do i do with the folder, sorry but i don't really know anything about the folder. Pls help.

i did everything what kafder2 said it helped but now its 4 fatal errors in the bin
