bitchy complains:
-why not putting the hunger bar over the armor?
-why not replacing the bowls with pork chops?
End bitchy complains.

No seriously, that idea looks very cool!

Great idea! This mod will just add to the survival mode. I agree with Dark though, you should put the hunger bar above the armor.

Very awesome work dude, I been hoping notch would implant something like this with a Realistic mode. Just to make survival more...survival.

Oh my god yes. Freaking awesome.

and I dunno guys, wouldn't it make more sense to put it over the health meter seeing as getting hungry affects your health?

Suggestion:

make it take 40 days to starve to death, but have each food item do much less to removing hunger.

40 days?
I want to starve to death atleast this year.
I like the idea of having to feed yourself once a day.. seems more realistic, since you do have to feed yourself, at least once a day, I guess.
I need a good quote.. >_>

It seems that it wont let me play and gives me a black screen. I might be doing something wrong, or it could be a conflict the mods I use.

the mod should follow the survival "rules of 3" 3 min without air=dead. 3 days without water= dead. 3 weeks without food = dead, that's how it is in "real life." I'm not saying that you need to add drinking and breathing. I'm just saying that you can live without eating for a few days, especially if you're fatty like me :) so starving should be a progressive thing.

yeah, that's probably true, and I should make it adjustable. maybe it could be based on the different difficulties as well as a config file. however, first I have to get it working! changing times and bar locations are secondary to a working mod. which is close, I just need to figure out what I did to break the maximum and then make it save the hunger value like it saves your health.

Maybe I'm over complicating the idea but I think rather then suddenly dropping dead or suddenly having a drown effect or something, not having enough food should just make you weaker. Take more hits to break a block etc.

Cool concept though, I never considered hunger before. Definitely more survival.

So what exactly is splinter, then? And if I use Starving right now, I won't be able to heal myself at all? That doesn't sound very appealing. :)

This mod looks great! A very much welcomed mod in my book. Now for the dreaded question...

Is this going to have an SMP version?

splinter will add a bandage and a medicine as well as a time-trickle health recharge when you're full enough (you know, because people heal). and no, it doesn't really sound appealing unless you're feeling ultra hardcore - it's just not finished yet.

Will it work on SMP? yes, that is the dreaded question, isn't it? I'm going to have to say not yet, smp still sucks too bad. you are really not supposed to have a 1 second lag on a two-node 100mbps network. however, that doesn't mean I won't write one in the next week or two once I have it working and making the game noticeably harder for me in SSP.

also: is it abnormal for me to be monitoring my own thread like a hawk?
