I think I should let everyone know that I have ceased development with this map. This map was meant for minecraft 1.0, minecraft 1.1 works fine, of course, but since 1.2 the biomes have changed, and it is no longer snowing. The map will remain open for anyone to download, and I will keep this in my signature for some time, but you won't be seeing any more news from me.

About
Survival on the North pole, its like survivaling in a tundra biome, but now without dirt, grass, animals, trees, all living things. You are captain Jones and your ship has wrecked in the middle of the north pole somehow. Your crew is gone and you will have to survive on your own. This is not impossible however, you will find out soon enough. You shall learn the ways of the old tribes and slay the cold of the day and the darkness of the night. Are you up to the task?

Do you actually need 2 copies of the same screenshot in your post?

No, there are none, and there's also no dirt to place saplings on. That's what makes this map special. You will have to live with the wood you already have.

Decided to go 'professional' with this. I've nearly hit 50 DL's. A new signature helps preventing this map from dissappearing again.

downloading now, 29 megs takes a while, but it looks really nice!

EDIT: amazingly difficult... after dying a few times, worried about losing all the wood, stripping the boat to its bare essentials of shack-ability, i wandered off to the North [i think, I had lost the map at this point] only to wander so far to arrive at....

a desert. D:

So I kept wandering and wandering, finally found grass, and died from a skeleton.

anyhow, great fun!!

Patch notes 1.1
- Improved the ends of the north pole by removing land and replacing it with more water
- Slightly improved sides of the north pole with ice and snow.
- The walls of the glacial fortress are now 100% made of ice and do not have stone and snow inside of them.
- Added a multiplayer compatible version, where the spawnpoint is a few chunks off the ship so the ship can be mined.
- Removed more leaves and flowers and mushrooms still there
- Made the dungeon more accessible by removing some water from the cave and adding a few moss stone
- Removed Herobrine
