x3D Modding Team
Please take your time to read this at least the summary!
This mod is here to make YOUR Minecraft more enjoyable.
We add to the experience of playing Minecraft, with quests and communities of different kinds.
You could encounter NPCs out in the wild, or maybe even a road to a city.
We want to add more re-playability to the game, regular survival is relatively boring after you’ve been playing for a while.
We decided that in our experience it is more fun to play with others, but in Minecraft that is sometimes annoying. In games where the NPCs are dynamic and radiant, at least speaking for us, it is more fun to play then it is with static NPCs. We also want the mod to bring you options, even in Minecraft survival the options are too limited and the NPC village is far from good enough to actually do something with. The “testificates” have no quest, nor do they do anything but go in and out of their houses.
We want to bring REAL roleplay to Minecraft instead of having Notch ramble about it, but only add darker elements of the game. There should be no RPG with one person.
We’ll concentrate on doing this for singleplayer, but if we get time, or we want to expand the project we might even do it multiplayer.
-Pontus, Matty & Mikkel.
Castles, forts, cities, villages, random houses and more!
They will all be rare. Cities will only appear approximately 1 time per 2000 blocks2.
Forts will be the stage lesser and castles less rare.
Villages will replace the old villages and maybe get a bit more spawn rate. Meanwhile random houses you can find quite often if you’re an adventurer.
We try to concentrate fitting all of these buildings in the mod.
After going up in ranks you’ll get to expand the communities, add buildings and even create your own town with you as KING!
Positioning of communities:
It’s not only that there are forts, most of them need food. So they need farms.
The farm cant just be placed anywhere, it has to have water to grow crops.
So therefore farms tend to spawn on flat ground and or low slopes with a water reserve and some pools of water in.
As you can see we don't have many pictures yet! More pictures coming soon!
In the mod we also try make it as dynamic as possible by using NPCs and trading systems.
For example. 2 iron ingots will give you one iron coin. For 4 iron coin you can buy maybe a chest plate. But don’t think it will be easier to just make it yourself, because you’ll receive coins by doing quests. Digging for iron is not the most fun you can have neither is smelting them to make your own armor. There is also gold coins which is about the same deal.
Quests will also get your reputation up with a city/fort/castle/villages and because it’s dynamic it is also a chance that you join two factions, forts, for example, that are fighting against each other, you have to get yourself to a high rank in order to make peace between them.
There is also a chance that you encounter road builders while you are in the wild, as some cities will become allied without you doing anything.
The questing wont be as just going around killing monsters, it will also be collecting materials, catching fish, getting water, taking messages to the nearby towns and much more. Also many of the quests are randomly generated, and because of this you’ll be able to do a lost of quests before they start to get repetitive. NPCs won’t always have a quest for you to do, there will be some set interval between each quest, so you don’t just keep going to the same NPC all the time, forcing you to adventure and find other towns after you’ve quested for every NPC there.
While going up in ranks you’ll also receive a couple of maps on the closest enemy, closest friend or of the area you are in. Maybe it is you that have to lead the attack on their enemies?
Maybe even assassinate someone in another city...
You can choose how you play. If you want to help your alliance attack, to climb in rank, or if you want to help them by being defensive/passive, you can by doing quests for them. Also there will be a reputation meter, to show your reputation with each community. If you are murdering people without reason your reputation will get worse. Meanwhile if you quest a lot for people, mainly random quest your reputation will get better. The reputation meter could go from evil to hero.
Your reputation matters, because if you get a bad reputation you’re at higher risk of people randomly starting to attack you. Or when entering a town you might be killed.
But this is only if you are very evil. If you are only a little evil, they’ll just give you less quests and buying things would cost more, until you improve your reputation with that faction. If you are friendly and nice to people, your reputation meter will get better. If you are very good,
or communities, and you’ll be able to buy some items for less, too.
In conclusion, if you want to kill people, then you’ll want to be evil, but if you want to take the economic way you’ll want to be good.
What new blocks will be added?
There will be added as many block as we need, we don’t want to go overboard with blocks, as that will demand even more CPU/RAM than is needed. So we’ll only take blocks as different Hay blocks and a few other blocks we will need. We also don’t want to be one of those mods where you only get tons of new blocks, but don’t know what to do with them.
What new items will be added?
We will add items like Iron Coins and Gold Coins for trading
maybe a new tier of armor/weapons, but we’ll try to stick to using Minecraft default items.
Is there anything else that will be added?
We’ll add somehow some kind of catapult in the mod, so you can tear down your enemies walls if you wanna go the brutal way. But we don’t know how many new kinds of block we will be using. Maybe only default.
When entering a community you’ll hear custom music, depending on the size of the community, it will play different music. If you are allied or enemies to them also matter.
There will probably be a continues play list of rather calm music while playing the mod. Easy to turn off in the options.
