There's a lot of traffic going to minecraft.net right now.
A lot of people trying to purchase the game,
and playing it too.

So the server is probably working fulltime to be able to keep it up,
and cannot always answer every request to get to that page.

It will probably get better in a couple of days.

And Nirraic, what browser is better than Chrome then?
For the internet standards, it works 99-100% of them (html, js, acid)
All I say, any webbrowser is better than IE, except when you're browsing Microsofts websites (since they've streamlined their pages for IE).
There are only 10 kinds of people in the world.
Those who understand binary notation, and those who don't.

No, it's not a particular browser or OS, it's the website, so stop the useless trolling.

I've been trying all weekend to get a new account registered for my children, and it's taken me 3 days to get it set up.  Now I'm trying to apply a skin, and I'm still getting timeouts and "500" errors.

Here's what I just found in Notch's Twitter:

@thebrillowable yes, massive problems. I can't fix it myself, and people are doing xmas stuff. :( Very stressful.

(pardon the mangled formatting)

Just be patient, and I'm sure as soon as Mojang comes back from their vacations, they'll get things back up and running in no time.
