I don't know if anyone is still doing this, but I just started and am having so much fun! :) So I'll keep going (no pun intended!).

This is just a little WIP-update, on my way through stone age. I built a new keep next to the old one and am gradually extending and replacing my walls:
Spoiler:

I also wrangled some piggies and built a pen next to the cows.
Spoiler:

That's it for now, but stone age should be completed fairly soon.

Okay, I believe I finished the Iron Age. Here's some commentary and proof from an in-game perspective.

Here it is:
Spoiler:

Tell me what you think. I'll be starting the Golden Age in the meantime. The best estimated time of completion I can give at this time for this Age is around New Years or Mid January.

So that people can see it, because they keep asking.

Thanks.

UPDATE: I've been struggling with builder's block. I'm trying to make a cathedral and university but some of the plans in my head require 1.5. Also, I can't decide on how I want my cathedral to look.

Make the cathedral Gothic, with a darker shade of block is possible, and don't forget to add really tall and thin glass windows.

I'm using the Isabella II spruce log for much of the interior with sandstone as the flooring and a Glowstone and, eventual, obsidian cross at the alter. No pulpit, no lectern. My vision is clear on that part.

Anyways, this is going to be my challenge's Church of Christ the Transcendent. Bonus points go to the person who catches the reference.

Sounds interesting. I will have to give it a try. But right now I'm busy with the city construction challenge.

Okay, so here are some pictures of my completed Wooden Age castle.  I've been playing on Hard mode, and died once.  Not sure if that matters.  I also have a question about moving on to the next Age.  Do we have to destroy this castle and rebuild on the exact same spot, or can we move our spawn to a new point and begin building there?  At first I wasn't sure how I was going to use this location, but then I just decided to build on the slope and ended up liking the result.  But I dont really want to have to destroy this castle.  I'd like to somehow (within challenge rules) move my spawn to a new location so that I can build a fresh castle somewhere nearby.

Anyway, on to the pictures:

Here's my treasure chest showing materials requirements, treasure, etc...
Posted Image

Front view of Wooden Castle:  walls are actually 4 blocks high with a fence around the top overhanging the wall with cactus below.  Several spiders have tried to get me while on the wall and none can.
Posted Image

Side view of Castle from river.  The double height windows are the room in the keep with the spawn point.
Posted Image

Original spawn point in keep.  Currently is a glass block in floor with a torch below it.  Hi pig.
Posted Image

View of castle from nearby lake that river flows into
Posted Image

Back corner of castle at top of hill.
Posted Image

Side view of tower near front gate at top of hill away from river
Posted Image

Looking down from keep.  Can see my wheat farm and the pig-pen in the yard.
Posted Image

View of front-gate.  Cactus Pit with steps to jump across.  Many mobs die here trying to follow me in at night.
Posted Image

In the yard looking back at the keep.  Corner of wheat farm in view also.
Posted Image

From the top of the keep looking out over castle
Posted Image

This is the last image:  From the river/lake tower above the keep looking out over the whole castle.
Posted Image

I hope you like my castle.  And I'm looking forward to moving on to the next Stage.  But I would like some help/ideas on the whole spawn location vs new castle.  What others are doing maybe?  Or what the challenge rules are.

Thanks
texture pack?

Restarted.
After about 2 hours on my new world, I am almost complete the wooden age.
Posted Image

My humble abode, Teberus Keep, includes a soon to be wheat farm (waiting until i have buckets, but there's another farm to the north)
a Watch Tower, a Keep, a giant Ditch, a log Wall, a Gatehouse and it's all in the classical real-life castle style of Mott and Bailey.
Posted Image

I breifly jumped into creative mod for the screenies but I've been playing on Survival with Hard Mode the whole time. Also, in the spoiler you can see the giant ass forest I demolished. So far I've used more than 750+ oak log blocks, 250+ birch log blocks and I have 250+ saplings in my treasure chest.

Spoiler: bird's eye view

TOONCRAFT

Anyways, it looks like you went for a simple style in the buildings.

How did you make the farm? Was there a puddle there?
