Hey, everyone. I have a bit of a security obsession, so I want to find a way to hide my external IP when I join an MC server. Is there a way to make my IP when joining a MC server different from my actual external IP?

Really, it's just me being a little bit on the OCD side, I guess. It's not like I can bypass a ban with this, since it uses your account for that, I just don't want my IP being seen by anyone I don't trust, if I have a choice.

well, theres no way i know of, but if someone takes your ip via a server they will get smacked by the banhammer, only servera owners/high ranks can do that and if they do, there would be reports and the server would be shut down.

That's not how it works, Reva. The servers are privately owned. Anyone with access to the server console will be able to see my IP, and that means any owner can see it, and we all know how stupid some OPs can be. xD

ah, i see.
I really dont know, but most people arent tech savvy enough to do that, and i suppose it doesnt happen as commonly as most things
also, you can avoid a ban, in a way, you can avoid an ip ban.

Yeah, but who's stupid enough to only ban an IP and not an account?

You can use a VPN but that slows down your connection speed a bit.
http://www.securitykiss.com/
or
http://hotspotshield.com/

I don't know which of them is better for you. depends on your location and how many ppl use them right now

Seems feasibly, but....Is there a way to just go make your MC client give a false IP?

That doesn't work. I think a VPN is everything you can do except you want to join Hamachi servers only. The problem is there aren't any huge hamachi servers.

never thought about that but that's just because I don't play Minecraft in the browser (and it doesnt even work for me lol)
That should actually work. I hope you still have a good connection speed with a proxy

Many server owners or staff kick proxy users. We do.
