Here's a house I built on a minecraft server (server isn't public yet). It follows my 7x7 modular design principle, which is fancy talk and is really very simple. I did use creative mode, but that doesn't really lessen the structure in my opinion since it still looks the same as if I was in survival mode, just with fewer craters and I didn't get bored and quit halfway through collecting resources. Images are spoilered in an attempt to help those with slower connections.
Basement storage.
2nd floor living area.
Master bedroom.
Storage room with a not-at-all suspicious lever and bookcase combination.
Every victorian manor has a secret room hidden behind a bookcase... it's a scientific fact.
Test Subject A. Test Subject B not shown due to escape.
Top floor of the tower has the alchemy/enchanting/crafting area.
Test Subject A dreaming of freedom.
Some parts of the house not shown for brevity, such as the library and 2nd floor storage.
The texture pack is the Doku continuation saga something or other... I don't remember the name exactly, basically Dokucraft but continued by other people after that doku guy quit making it.
wheey your using my obsidian and enchanting table textures. (although it doesn't really fit in with the dark theme :laugh.gif: )
sorry i just liek it when i see my textures being used in other people work.
the build looks awesome though. there's a distinct attention to detail here, i like that a lot. so often i see builds that look awesome on the outside but are just hollow shells on the inside.
Small world! I actually thought yours fit in with everything else better than the rest of the enchanting tables, the colour scheme reminded me of something an old-school vampire would use, maybe that's just me.
I always try to fill out a house when I build it, although I waste a lot of space more often than not.
Thanks to you folks that I hadn't replied to directly yet, the positive outcome from this thread as well as seeing SerAaron's thread have inspired me to start on a city (actual city) with this sort of victorian style, as well as some things a bit older. Think Innistrad mixed with Thief. Might even do a live commentary video series while building it, who knows.
Lovely! This is one of my favorite styles of architecture, and not one over-used in minecraft so kudos for creativity! This is a very nice creation- have a
I'm also working on a Victorian-themed city as one part of a huge world containing cities of all different styles, but I have yet to make a thread for it because I only have 3/8 cities finished, and I want to have something complete to show people-I should set my ambitions a bit lower in the future I guess!
always nice to see someone else who appreciates beautiful buildings-and can create them too!
keep it up

Thanks a lot man!
My theory on why victorian architecture isn't very common in MC is because it's basically impossible to make a mansard roof without making the scale way too big for a 2m tall person.

so true! I had the same problem when I made my first Victorian house, now I have a bit of a formula to it which helps a lot
here's an example of my efforts from that same map I mentioned:
It's only intended for idea-swapping purposes; I don't want to steal your thunder from this thread!
if you make more houses please do post them, I'd love to see more!

That's actually a pretty cool system there, i basically just have been making a hipped roof with stair blocks and then "cutting off" the top section, but you don't get the windows doing that and it rarely looks right.
And don't worry, I keep my thunder in a safety deposit box, posting your own stuff in my thread can't rob a bank.
Is that the dark version of DokuCraft? If so good job on using it, most people can'y make it look right. :wink.gif:
Anyways good job on this, and the lilypads look nice out front :biggrin.gif:
Yup, there are a few textures that are different from just the dark version because I used the customizer, but you're right, I started off setting them all to the dark version and changing a couple textures.
Also thanks. The pool with the lilypads is in the backyard though.
