Brambles are bushes with thorny vines.

They grow like a plague and slowly infest everything around them, squeezing the life of of everything with their tendrils.

I imagine them infesting an area like a plague. You can walk through them, much like webs, but they deal damage to you. I think this would have many applicable purposes to people's maps. I can imagine traps using them, or even areas you want to ward off people.

Other than that use, Bramble bushes IRL produce berries. A new food idea! There could be a chance for a drop upon breaking them.

I imagine them with the same model as webs, the whole cross shaped thing, but with thorny vines wrapped around in a circle instead of strands of webbing. They must be micromanaged, because they will continuously grow at a slow rate, but relatively fast compared to other spreading plants.

LOL. kind of like this, but with thorns

Random image called bramble fit my idea. But it'd be 2 2D sprites instead of a full circle.

This sounds like a good idea, but I would change it so that it cannot grow on things that you have built. Of course, you could collect it with shears and plant it anywhere, but it spreads only to naturally placed blocks.

Support.

As for the trap idea, I still also want iron spikes to be craftable :P

What if bramble bushes generate in the form of blocks, similar to leaf blocks? They could grow out from a central stem block up to maybe four blocks away or so from the stem. Like leaf blocks, bramble blocks could be harvested with shears and replanted as topiary blocks - a kind of natural barbed wire, if you will. The replanted blocks wouldn't grow, so they would still be managable by the player. Unless maybe a player harvests a bramble stem block, then the stem could be replanted and would grow a new bush.

Also, I love the idea of having either raspberries or blackberries in the game. I grow some in my backyard, and they are delicious. :)

You can't make metre cubed pieces of rock get jiggy with each other, that's just WRONG.
