A NPC fortress (NPCF) is a randomly generated structure that hold NPCs that in war, there typically found near NPC villages. NPCF holds 6-10 Combat NPCs and include chest with rare or exclusive items. Stealing from the chest would enrage the Combat NPCs and they hunt you down.
There are different types of Combat NPCs including:
Captain spawns 1 - Captains are the leader of the group, killing an captain will completely confuse the group, be warned the captain is a skilled fighter.
Soldier spawns 5-8 -Soldiers are standard infantry, killing them will not cause any disorganization within the group.
Archer spawns 0-1 -Archers are similar to soldier with the exception of their ranged attack.
There could also be different military factions being indicated by the color of their flags, this could start NPC war perhaps such as red vs blue.

*A NPCF barracks.
*Chests can contain rare and exclusive blocks and items.
*A combat NPC would look a lot more intimidating than regular NPCs.
I believe that NPCFs would be a great feature to game.

That would be epic espcially with quests you could be told to invade an enemy one. cool
Mission involving stealth and recon would be interesting no doubt, it give a use for combat NPCs rather than them walking around and hunting you if you steal their items.

Hmm.. The Warzonearea (it shouldn't be as large as biome) sounds interesting, I'll think about it.
Oh and the Combat NPCs will most definitely not look like regular villagers, I said in the post myself that they would look more intimidating; I just used a villager for example because I have no idea how to use a 3D image program.
Great idea. The Guards should also kill hostile mobs within the village though. The NPC Warriors should act like zombie pigmen and wolves, if you attack one, they all attack you.

What if you could side with one NPC faction over the other by taking a leather hat and adding dye? Wearing the hat would the block you from adding dye to another hat.

You could just craft a new leather hat and dye it a different colour which's allows multiple alliance,which I believe multiple alliances should be aloud so no.
