While doing some experiments in my lab the other day, I accidentally got some blue dye mixed with slime, and found that slime can have some very interesting properties when mixed  with dyes.

Update 1.4

The Forge compatibility update! This mod is now Forge dependant, this means that you no longer need Modloader installed to use this mod, but instead, you need Minecraft Forge. Forge is allowing me to do some new super cool things. Read the changelog to see what I've been able to add this update.


This new Mod adds some useful items and blocks to Minecraft.

CHANGELOG


V 1.4: Mod is now forge dependant. The types of slime block now show up below the blocks in the creative menu, instead of down the very bottom. The three variations of the Slime Machine now use only 1 Block ID. Config File, which is generated on first launch and placed in /.minecraft/config added, so you can change Block and Item IDs to make the mod more compatible with others. The achievements now have their own achievement page, so they don't conflict with other mods.

INSTALLATION
All you need to do is drag the zip file you downloaded above into the /.minecraft/mods/ folder. And that's it.

Probably not, as slimes are (in my opinion) the most annoying mob in the game (Kill a slime, more appear), and making them spawn in the day would get really annoying, and that would also involve editing at least one (I think) vanilla class, and I try not to do that with my mods.

Very nice for a first mod! As for making slimes spawn during the day: instead of changing a vanilla class you could probably simply copy most of Slime's class and make a new mob-clone species that will spawn during the day with animals. Or you could extend the class? I don't know enough Java ~_~

Not sure, I'm not that good at Java either, but I am planning on adding Little pet slimes, or Slime Golems eventually.

I'm sure you'll think of something. I tried getting into Java a while back but school hindered my practice. I know extending or just copying some Entity code is always useful since you don't have to start from scratch. Slime Golems, like the day slimes, could probably just extend their Vanilla counterpart with a few tweaks. Good luck ^_^

For a first mod, this looks pretty well done.

One suggestion I have (if you feel up to the programing challenge) would be to add the ability to create a special type of large slime that acts in a manner similar to the gelatinous cubes from RPGs such as DnD.

It could move on top of other mobs (or players) and then envelope them to cause near immediate suffocation damage to non-slimes, with the only way to escape being to have someone/thing kill it or hurt it so it drops the victim, or just "swim" out of it. Of course to make it even remotely effective at killing things any movement inside of it should go slowly, I'm thinking similar to swimming against undercurrents in the game. That way it wouldn't be too much like the creeper's lethargic (but equally as devastating to players) cousin for players who encounter it, but other mobs could be killed off by it.

Funny you should mention that, the Glowing slime was originally intended to stop fall damage, but I just couldn't get it to work. I'll keep trying though :P
