I keep looking for the official download link for the server software version 1.0.1 so that I can stop getting that invalid key error but I can't seem to find it anywhere. The one on the official Minecraft site still says version 1.0.0 and my Google searches have turned up fruitless. Help please?

It is in fact the 1.0.1 jar, but you will only know it if you use a vanilla server. Bukkit does not have the 1.0.1 build yet, or a 1.0 RB in fact, so what you are likely seeing is that.

So only the .jar version is updated? I'm using the .exe version since I only run a very small, personal vanilla server.

I have not tested the .exe file since I know how to use the jar files to my liking. But i will make sure. I know the jar is up to date, but you should be able to update the .exe.

EDIT: The .exe is not 1.0.0 yet. What OS are you using? If you are using windows, then I can help with running the server as 1.0.1 with the new jar. Otherwise, not much else to do there.

Yeah I'm running Windows 7 64-bit. I'd definitely appreciate some help getting my server running 1.0.1. I went ahead and downloaded the .jar but I don't really know much about getting it to work.

Fyi, I've been running my actual game client with 64-bit java but I'm guessing the .exe server client defaults to the 32-bit java version. Any chance you can get it to use 64-bit java one with the server client as well?

Okay, I run the same setup. Give me a few seconds to get that file you will need, cause I have to tweak mine a bit to fit that. Cause i have no idea what your folder setup is.

I cant get java 7 64 bit to play nice with me, so we will have to use 32 bit.

In the server folder, where the minecraft_server.jar is, create a run.bat file (using NotePad, Save as..., all files, run.bat). In the run.bat, put this line:

java -Xmx512M -Xms512M -jar minecraft_server.jar
pause

That will run the server with allocated 512 MB of memory, using your default java and with the version of the jar that you have.
And the pause is there so that if there is a problem with running it, the console will stay open.

Derp for me, realized that i did not have 64-bit java 7 installed, no wonder why it was not working... one sec, installing the right java version and testing a new file.

Okay, instead of the code i said above, you will want to use this for the 64-bit java 7. You may have to edit the jre7 to jre6 if you have java 6 instead

@echo off
path=%PATH%;"%Program Files%\Java\jre7\bin"
java -jar minecraft_server.jar

Awesome! It all works perfectly! Thanks so much for your help, you get some rep for that.

Oh and quick question, do you know where I could find the icon file for Minecraft? I'm not a fan of the Java icons that replaced my Minecraft shortcuts.

I have the same question; I have a small server for 2 people, when I run the .exe it runs as 1.0.0 but I am looking for the 1.0.1 server .jar... can anyone link me to the assets page?

quick edit;

"The minecraft_server.jar has been updated to 1.0.1, fixing the login key problem and a null pointer exception" - Jebs twitter, but most of the comments on that "tweet" have said the same thing...where is it?

and this link http://www.minecraft.net/download works as 1.0.0

Yeah, I have been looking all over for the stupid 1.0.1 jar and I can't seem to find one. It would be nice if they kept the old files someplace to download. If someone could make a megaupload link or a torrent or something that would be amazing.

I believe that version 11w47a is 1.0.1

Try this

assets.minecraft.net/11w47a/minecraft_server.jar
