I actually have a question. In 1.7.3, could mountains generate in snow-related biomes like those that formed in the forest variations? Also, did all the forest variations have full height variation as well?

If not, that can be grouped as one of the flaws of the generator.
They could, and yes.

From what I am aware, mountains could generate anywhere, but they were more common in the forested areas.
Biomes that are limited to only contain smooth hills are plains and savanna. Mountains there are only 6-7 blocks tall.

I've seen full-blown mountains (well, steep hills) in Plains and Savanna, but granted it was in BWG's version of Beta which was not accurate.

If those biomes spawn in a mountain area, they drop down to flatness in 15 blocks or so.

No.
They do that in my terrain fix, but not in the 1.7.3.

Noise slightly depends on the temperature and rainfall, but it's barely noticeable. But it has no biome checks.

Another flaw with 1.7 mountains is that they're all flat on top. There were no pointy ones!

That may have just been due to the height limit. Perhaps, if the peaks of mountains (but not the mountains themselves) went over Y=128, then we would get pointy peaks on the occasion.

I liked having flat top mountains, it made them perfect for building hill top homes on.

You mean 1.8+ mountains.

I can't wait until the update is changed from 'The letter has been sent!' to 'The letter has been recieved!'

And, also, both plat and pointy mountains would be possible in the suggested new terrain, because it will have almost full variation. (P.S. And, if you have trouble finding a mountain with a flat top, it shouldn't  take but maybe 1-3 minutes to teraform pointy tops.)

My favourite seed ('CREEPER!') has a series of single flat topped mountains. I built a house on one of them :D

I honestly dont think that it will actually ever get there. I might be being pessimistic (did I use this right?) but the first letter was responded to quickly.

Yes, you did use that right, but keep in mind that the sender of the original letter wasn't across a sea.

I suppose that is true, however how long should it take for a letter to cross the Atlantic ocean and reach mid Europe? I am in England and have never attempted a letter to America or other places far away so I don't know.
