I love it!

The only problem is, it runs kind of slowly on a flash drive, but then again, a flashdrive is not a computer :P

Great work!

Bump. Please can any one answer my problem above? ^^

EDIT: Also does it work on a computer already with MC on it? That might be my problem...
Yes, I use this all the time and my computer already has Minecraft. All this is doing is instructing Minecraft to use locations on the usb drive, not in .minecraft.

Thanks this works great! All I needed was to have a second minecraft directory without having a manager, I'm using 1.0 for my server until the enderman pickup fix comes out, and 1.1 for everything else.

And a note to anyone copying and pasting "set APPDATA=%CD%\data bin\minecraft.exe" from the code box, if you copy it all at once it will have a tab at the end of "data" so make sure to remove that in your .bat file.

Welcome to windows batch files, where we won't do it if there's an illegal invisible character in the code.

You sir, deserve to be thanked!

I had the exact problem, and I figured out how to fix it.
Check the name of the launcher that you copied to your bin folder, make sure it is named Minecraft, not MinecraftSP.
Thats how I fixed my problem.

Try using Optifine if you are still having the problem.
Search around on the forms and you should find it. :D

The reason for the lag spikes is that a flash drive isnt as fast as a computer so if your just do the zip folder method which is in the first post I belive. Thats what got rid of my lag spikes.

If you are having trouble try this instead

@echo off
set APPDATA=%disk%
start=%disk%/minecraft.exe

Then just put your .minecraft foler and minecraft .exe on the flash drive

Do Not Add The <>
I hope this helped for people having problems also this will not work for computers that have command prompt blocked eg.School or liabury computers or mac and linix pc's

I use school computers and they dont allow the Command Prompt to be used so its blocked but there is another command prompt called CMD in the Systems 32 folder that is not blocked.
