I just black screen after I click login if I try and downgrade to 1.1.2, I'll try a few more things before I look back at this but if anyone has any ideas they'd be appreciated.
Note: I click login on the launcher and it just goes directly to black and then doesn't do anything else.
The Texture Pack you may or may not like is just a button click away, Murder's Pack

I was playing minecraft Alpha until something weird happened. It started to snow. I know for a fact that snow did not exist during the Alpha days.Is this a bug or something? Also I have some of the old sounds such as the hurt sound. However, I don't have the old door sound or the old bow sound. Can you fix these problems?

If you're running the "batch script", it doesn't like folders with long names and spacing, and all that. Try a folder like: "C/Minecraft/Mods/MCNostalgia", and see how that works for you. I had the same issue.

is there any way you can make a server downgrader too? I've tried to find outdated servers, but I can't find any.

Come check out the No Topic Forum!

Feel free to PM me if you are having trouble with mods and I will help in any way that I can!

Not really sure if you mean in c: create a file called minecraft, if so i did that and got the same result.

That's exactly what I meant. In your C: Drive, create a "Minecraft" folder. In the Minecraft folder, create a sub-folder called "Mods". In the Mods folder create one last sub-folder and call it "MCNostalgia".

Then place ~all~ of the extracted MCNostalgia files in that new folder. Then, try running it again. Because the file you're using is little more than a fancy batch file... and given that Command Prompt does ~not~ like long names, nor spaces, it will laugh in your face, every. single. time. you try to run it in your current folder.

Run it in the new folder I've suggested you create, and it should work.

I downgraded to Minecraft alpha 1.0.17_04 but none of the sounds at all are working. Is this a bug?

I'd like to point something out. The Bow and Door sounds are not like they were in older versions, they're 1.8+. Would you mind fixing this problem or is it impossible?

Now i get. This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

Maybe it says that because my .jar files are winrar ones?

How does this work out with mods? It seems to change the minecraft.jar folder everytime I change versions? Do I have to get the versions of each mod for each older version of minecraft?

Both of these questions can be answered together. The older versions of Minecraft (if I've read previous messages correctly) try to request sounds from the old servers... which no longer exist. Ergo, you don't get the correct sounds... or any (in some cases). There's not much you can do about it.

...your Minecraft.jar file shouldn't be a ".zip" or ".rar" file. But even beyond that, and I'll cover it further in the next part of this post, you'll need an almost 100% clean Vanilla Client and .minecraft folder to work in. I strongly suggest you backup your .minecraft folder to another location, and then "delete" the original. After that, start your client, click the "Options" button, and do a forced update. ~THEN~ you will want to run MCNostalgia, and downgrade to the version you want to use. This is what I've always had to do, to get older versions to work.

You'll need to install the correct version of the mods you want to use, for the client version you downgrade to. If you have ~any~ outdated (or, in this case "future version") mods in your mod folder, or an "unclean minecraft.jar" file, you will have issues with the downgrader.

Basically, backup everything, "delete" the original .minecraft folder in your %appdata%/roaming/ folder and then do a force update of your client (to 1.4.5), and then use MCNostalgia to downgrade to the version you want. Then, install the mods of that version, following their instructions.

Sounds like your browser is automatically saving the .jar files as .zip or .rar files, instead. What you'll need to do, is change the extension type back to .jar format. You might have to look through your file options, and uncheck the "hide known extensions" option.

You will get a warning message, along the lines of: "If you change this file type, it might not work anymore"... just change it anyway, and it'll be fine. The same thing happens to people who download ".litemod" files while browsing with Internet Explorer.

I'm afraid I can't help you there. I haven't tried to use Linux in almost ten years.
