Can't connect to minecraft.net

i got a new pc and when i downloaded minecraft and i tryed to log in it said that it wasnt downloaded i then deleted and redownloaded minecraft launcher a few time but it still didnt work so my friend emailed his bin folder. when i used his bin folder it worked but it said: (<html><body><font color="#808080"><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><center>Failed to update news<br>java.net.SocketException: Invalid argument: connect</center></font></body></html>) text with a grey background. I tryed to redownload it again i even changed the time so it was perfect, disabled my firewall and did someohe stuff to my internet. I cant even play minecraft in browser! i bought a my new pc to make minecraft vids and make a server for my friends but now i cant do any of that Posted Image I even called dell but they couldnt help me Posted Image FYI my pc is dell. I have McAfee internet scurity
Please help
P.S. I can still play Minecraft offline and if i delete my minecraft.jar folder it says its updating but it never finishes and Force Update doesnt seem to do anything Posted Image

Something that can cause this other than site maintenance is being logged into the website. Go to the website and make sure you aren't logged in. I would also login and logout just to be sure.

You see, here is what is happening to me.
1: META-INF IS DELETED.
2: THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR 2-3 MONTHS. STRAIGHT.
3: I CAN USE BROWSER VERSION.
4: I CAN'T USE MODS ON BROWSER VERSION, OR I GET A BLACKSCREEN.
5: I REDOWNLOADED MINECRAFT, THRICE.
6: DELETED .MINECRAFT TWICE.
7: DEFINITELY NOT MINECRAFT SERVERS BEING DOWN!
8: COMPUTER SPECS: Compaq Prescario running Win7 with 16GB of RAM and a 15-second startup+internet connection process.
9: Java priority set to high.
10: I AM NOT DISABLING MY FIREWALL.
11: NOR ANY ANTIVIRUS/SPYWARE PROTECTION SYSTEMS.
12: <html><body><font color="#808080"><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><center>Failed to update news<br>java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect</center></font></body></html>
13: "CAN'T CONNECT TO MINECRAFT.NET!" MESSAGE.

14: IF I TRY TO EDIT ANY PART OF MY .MINECRAFT, IN ANY WAY, EVEN IF DELETING META-INF, BROWSER VERSION WILL BLACKSCREEN.

I've tried EVERYTHING within my power [and willpower] to do.
Don't try to suggest me new things to try. Please.

Just tell me a 100% guaranteed solution to this.

yeah guys,

its gone down again i think because it keeps sayin 'cant connect to minecraft.net'

i think they are doin an update?

Its happening to me aswell, are the servers down?

Guys, I had the same problem that minecraft couldn't connect after a power outage, I tried to even fix it with synced date to make it work, however, after I logged in on minecraft in a BROWSER it worked, and that solved the problem with the downloaded version of minecraft!
