[- INFORMATION -]
Coloured Torches can be used in many ways; to mark stuff, as decorations, or for a substitution to a regular torch! You can use it however you want, and it is easy to craft. They can be placed like a torch, and has easy placements. They do give off slightly more light than torches and glowstone. You can also craft coloured coals, which can be made by following the Recipe Guide below.

Shouldn't it be coloured torches? o.o Flares are usually dropped or thrown, instead of attached or mounted.
I know Hiragana and Katakana, so if you are more comfortable with Japanese, feel free to reply to me in one of those languages. Please try to avoid using Kanji, though. Just transcribe it into Hiragana and I should understand it.

Garfield, as of right now, yeah, but I'm planning on adding more :)

Zeaga, I thought 'flares' was a more appropriate name.

HaXiXor, I could possibly do that also. Thanks for the idea ^^.

Works as stated.

Needs:
  • More colored flares

Fix:
  • White flare looks just like a regular torch
  • Green torch does not have an item name it shows up as "unnamed"
  • Blue torch does not look like the other torches, the flame effect is a bit off.

  • White flares: paste a pic of what they look like?
  • Green flares: woops, fixed! I'll update the download link.
  • Blue flares: this is just a temporary tint for the flame effect until I find a more accurate RGB colour.
  • I plan on adding more flares in the future.

Well It's official: I'm changing the name to Coloured Torch, even though the files will stay as Flares :P.

Looks great, I'm downloading it for sure. Great idea, it's just what Minecraft needs. I agree with you about the name change. I also think that different coloured torches giving off different colour light is great. I look forward to seeing how this progresses. Maybe make torches that are harder to make (AKA the materials are harder to find) brighter, like maybe a diamond torch or a gold torch.

I think it would be cool if the torches also had their own special trait, such as gold torches burn aggressive mobs (like sunlight) and maybe glowstone dust could be used to make brighter torches. I'm sure this will require completely different programming though

not to be a hater, but I think there is already a mod that has more color than this. I think it's called Manly Torch or sumthin.

The coding required to make it give off colored light is an -extreme- ammount of work. Worse even than it would have been in pre 1.8.1 due to changes in how notch handles lighting masks. I wouldnt expect the modder to do that feature.

To the Modder: good job on your first mod. I didnt download (cause i have my own version) but did you get all the different colors using just 2 total block IDs or using 2 IDs per color? its possible to do all 16 standard wool colors using only 2 total block IDs.

I do plan on expanding the coloured torches, don't get me wrong. Yes, it would be a pain to change every single block for a custom colour, and it seem relatively impossible; if not, time-consuming. I am experimenting with different tints of RGB to give an accurate tint for the flames. I'm limited to only the RGB scale, though.

I looked at that mod (completely unaware of it until now), and I noticed it doesn't produce coloured flames. So it came to a conclusion they're just custom blocks that are rendered as torches, with the same Entity FX as a plain torch.

I just realized 2 days before it would be a pain, and too much time-consuming if I were todo that xD. I wouldn't have the time to give off different coloured light (even though it was my intentions of doing so when I first thought of this mod), because I'm in independant study, and the packets they give me take a lot of time :(. If I ever get onto a 2 week break (which is unlikely), I'll try to do it.

I have thought about adding new torches that are crafted with ores (such as diamond torch, gold torch), but I just released this mod Yesterday, so I'll take it a step at a time ;).
