I have made a new Minecraft Server Frontend (Server Wrapper) and would like to make it publicly available to you all. It is written in C++ and uses the Qt toolkit for it's GUI.
I got the inspiration after seeing Kuzon's ServerCraft frontend, I downloaded it and couldn't get it to work on Linux using Mono and wine and it also doesn't support Mac OS X. So I decided to make my own open source frontend that works on Linux, Windows and Mac OS X (Have tried on all).
So anyway, here you are
Features
Full server.properties configuration
Player administration (OP, bans, whitelist etc...)
Built-in console viewer
RAM configuration 1-4096 MiB*
Automatically Checks for updates
Open Source
Cross-Platform!!!
Extremely tiny (Only ~110KiB on Linux)
Fast C++ code
*On some systems the max amount of RAM allocatable will be much less due to operating system restrictions

Server Macros (Quick commands) such as: Teleport, Give Items, Set Time
OR, use the precompiled binary and set it to be executable:
> chmod a+x PickAxe
Windows
Download precompiled binary.
Add the location of Java to your PATH:
1. Click Start
2. Right click My Computer
3. Click Advanced (Left hand side of page on Win7)
4. Click Environment Variables
5. Under System Variables find PATH or Path
6. Click Edit and add the Java path to the beginning followed by a semicolon ';'
e.g. On my system it looks like
PickAxe should now work fine (Tested on WinXP and Win7 with Java 6 and 7) Mac OS X
Download precompiled binary and run Note: If you downloaded the .zip version you may need to run this in Terminal.app before running PickAxe
File Locations
PickAxe stores all the files it creates out of the way in it's on folder (this includes the worlds made whilst using PickAxe).
On Windows XP this is
C:\Documents and Settings\<User>\.pickaxe
On Windows Vista/7 this is
C:\Users\<User>\.pickaxe
On Linux/OSX/Unix this is
~/.pickaxe

As you may have noticed, I stopped development on this quite some time back as I needed to focus on my University work. Anyone willing to further it's development (with or without me) is welcome! Just send me a message with your interest!
Thanks for your support! Also, depending on your operating system you may need the Qt libraries (not sure as all my computers have them). It shouldn't matter for Windows as I have included the dll's.
That did it, thanks for the quick help. I had considered looking up how to tweak the permissions, but I figured it was safer to ask the dev. :smile.gif: Mebbe it will help someone else too.
Not a problem. Thanks for alerting me to this. The reason is that Mac programs loose their permissions when put in a .zip file (I didn't know this before). So from now on I will package them in a .dmg, this will A] Make installation simpler, and B] Fix the permission problem.
how to make a server me and my friend are trying to make one but it just seems to complicated i want to see a person do it from scratch

p.s. how do you put banners?
also can you put adventure maps onto custome servers?
Well I don't have my Mac on me at the moment, so you may have to wait for someone else to kindly make a video. I'm not sure what you mean about banners. And the map question is probably more suited to a server mod, I am unsure of what mod will do what you want.

Thank you very much! Are there any particular features you would like to see added?
OSX 10.6.8, 2010 iMac

Hi, would you mind trying this in Terminal.app:
Thanks

Everything seems to work great in my case, I just had to copy my existing world file into the .Pickaxe folder and it just worked.
thank you
What would you like the video to cover?

Just click his signature, do the test and then paste the code into your sig.
P.S. This isn't exactly on topic
Have you hit "browse" on the main tab and pointed it to the server file?
