"Coincidence or no, it doesn't matter. Only two things can happen anyway." Mark breathed, and started walking towards the nearest corner. "They join us, or they die."
Even with his increased hearing, he couldn't sense anything with his eyes open, making them unreliable. But as he drew closer to the corner, he found that the stench of death became stronger. He could almost hear the blood dripping of each and every dead body nearby. "The messenger is close by. Turn invisible the second we turn around the next corner. I'll sprint towards our mystery messenger's den the second you do so. Hopefully we'll provoke our follower to act."
The corner was coming closer every step he took. "Any moment now..."
[Clant, you go invisible, the second you do so, do some minor powerplay describing me breaking into a sprint. Thanks.]

Sometimes I wonder if it's all too easy.
Lying, cheating, stealing your way to victory.
Though just how far would you fall for a dream?
It took every ounce of control that he had for Archard not to flinch when the deadly Xuan jumped at him. He managed it, barely, but was disturbed when he realized that she could have easily attacked before he was ready to defend. His frown spoke volumes, but he maintained his place as he listened to the small shade's analysis of a feral shade.
Nodding in agreement, Archard casually and deliberately turned his back on the chinese woman and moved toward the exit of the lair. Holding the door open for Xuan, he gave a half-bow and gestured for her to move on through, while he inquired, "Have you ever been to Coney Island?"
((Don't you just love the feeling when you write a really great post, and hit post only to find out that your internet connection has been cut for 2 seconds...))
[Oh sweet Jesus the pain of experiencing that.]

((yes yes one second, i'm not the best at faster moving roleplays, and the new format is confusing me ))
As soon as the corner loomed between them and whoever was following, Kurt became invisible and stealthily turned around and inched back to the other side of the corner. Mark chose a less stealthy approach and began sprinting, the sound echoing off the cement structures would make sure the pounding footsteps could be heard, and in order to keep up the follower would surely have to accidentaly reveal itself to Kurt. Hopefully. taking the pistol out from a pocket, Kurt aimed down the sights, took a breath and exhaled quickly in surprise as his movement solicited a small clink from his shotgun. Damn! he would need to choose a weapon to dump in favor for another, he couldn't have them compromising his stealth.

Time to update the ol' rpg test. The ones I get the most are Tactician, Cleric, and Paladin
(( Okay, lets see... Again, sorry it took so long Thanatos..))
Halt perked up seeing as how there were new harbringer available for recruit. He knew that they needed all the help they could get.
He stood up, straightening out and easing out the numbness in his legs from inactivity. He nodded at Zeke, then said to Yetto, "Zeke's right, even though getting them will have a risk of them getting killed, if we leave them out there they're screwed for sure. We need all the help we can get, and I don't think that this lot will cut it. I'd rather have too many on our team then too few"
Turning to Zeke, he said, "Any way we can locate them? Maybe you can.....see?"

As soon as Mark saw Kurt vanish into thin air, he sprinted from his place, his rapid steps clearly echoing throughout the docks, hopefully to provoke their follower, and attract the attention of the shade they were after in the first place. Using his sense of smell to guide him through the docks, Mark drew his strings, slashing at the concrete, hoping for the best that the unnatural noise would be welcomed as that of a fellow shade.
With each step he grew closer to his destination. Around another bend, he saw a lone police car, and beyond it, the stench was at its peak. Rasing his voice, Mark called into the night, "Show yourself, shade. A brother has come for you."

"An ambush? No...we're not here to do anything of the sort. Or maybe we are. I'm under orders, is all I can say." Mark smiled, strings at ready. "Our boss isn't really that interested in the likes of you, but rather those of the feral ones. Cut the long story short, I'm going to test you. You win, you come with us. You lose, well, you're dead."
At the word 'dead', Mark strafed quickly to the right, entering one of the darkened alleys of the docks. Climbing up the roof, Mark raised his voice, and said, "The test has begun, for both of you!"
[Buh, short post, couldn't really think of anything.]
A sickly sweet stench of sweat and sugar saturated the night air, filling Xuan's senses and disarming her, allowing a rising tide of memories to push her along the darkness. Hundreds of people pushed and shoved and wandered and meandered and dissolved into countless others, groups and social circles disintegrating and re-integrating around others, becoming larger, pushing, swelling like a tide of flesh and bone and collective consciousness, all aiming for satisfaction, endorphin release, and all the good things.
Xuan remembered it as if it were just yesterday that she had walked and laughed with her parents along the parade there, and there, where she had gotten a bit drunk that one time and found a boy who turned out to be pretty good for a few weeks before he moved on.
When Archard had asked if she had ever been to this place she hadn't said anything. She hadn't known, hadn't been sure. But the second they stepped from a shadow into the artificial lights and flinched back as one she knew that not only had she been and knew of this marvellous attraction, she had also loved it.
It was just a pity that now she was unable to appreciate her memories. Unable to pin down exactly why she had liked and enjoyed being in this place that was so dirty and seedy and held all the dark corners and was obviously just a pen for the dumb animals that humans easily became the second they saw something flashy and new. She was unsure of how she felt about it, and weather she was capable of feeling anything from her memories at all that wasn't a twisted alteration caused by the emotion numbing aspect of her new life.
Still, time enough to think about that after this jaunt though the foetid realms of human satisfaction.
She and Archard had made reasonable time out of the sewers and crossing the city, twisting and stepping through the shadows, keeping low and silent to deter any unwelcome visitors. And Xuan hadn't wanted to talk with the corporate shade anyway. The way he conversed with her was not something she enjoyed. Association with prey was not something that the wild instinctual part of her could grasp. It was only her remaining humanity that kept her from leaping as far away from him as possible. Maintains distance, keep safe, look for weakness. That was how a hunter took down prey that it deemed stronger or more of a challenge than the rest.
That's not to say she was afraid of him.
The others she could kill without trouble. He was clever though, a type of smarts that gave him a great advantage over not only her but the rest of the shades she had met thus far.
But he couldn't fight like her. One-on-one, close combat, she knew she could take him. With weapons? probably not. Claws and talons and augers and spines and biological weaponry was her forte, from the very moment of her conception. The weaponry at the hideout was wasted on her. She killed her prey with her bare hands or not at all.
And speaking of prey...
Archard directed her attention to a shadowy corner, away from the people and away from their own hiding place. She grinned, her milk-white eyes and teeth splitting her face into a rictus smile of inhuman proportions.
