Actually, ditto would seem like a wise choice because you could turn into any Pokemon at any time.

Either Rampardos or Scizor.
The best Pokemon in my team in Platinum. My Rampardos (while it was STILL A CRANIDOS) single-handedly curb-stomped Gardenia's gym. Scizor helped me a lot in the E4.
