Ok, this sounds a lot more noobish than it really is (although it's still pretty noobish...), I was wondering if there's any way of downloading a skin that you currently have equipped to your character. I forgot to save the skin to my computer when I uploaded it to my character, and I originally created it to give to a friend, but closed the window before I could save it to my computer. Is there any way of downloading the skin from my character to save it to my computer? Or do I have to recreate it?

Theres a skin-related program that allows you to view skins from anyone, and Im pretty sure you can download it too. MCSkin viewer I think.

I beg to differ. MinersNeedCoolShoes does not have every skin used. It simply allows users to create and share skins.

Ummm... When did I ever say it had every skin used. You type in the persons name on the bottom and it show their skin. There is a big download button at the top that lets you take it.

Well, my question was how to get a hold of the skin my character is currently using. Is there some file I can pull it from or something? I looked all through the .minecraft folder, but had no luck.

Good question. Minecraft.net must have it, since you uploaded it, and it looks that skin up whenever you log in and then applies it to your avatar.

But I don't see anywhere that you can download it. Since this is a fairly rare need, and generally people are held responsible for providing their own skins, it doesn't surprise me that there's no option for this. I've also scoured the .minecraft files for my saved player skin, but I see nothing of the sort; I guess it goes straight from Minecraft.net to the Minecraft client JVM's RAM each time you log in and play. Sorry, ICY.

1) By every skin used, I meant a database similiar to the one likely on MC.net.
2) I havent been on there a while, I forgot about the skin editors username search.

As for what to do, follow deadjaws advice.
