I will no longer be following this thread. In fact, I'm going to get a moderator to lock it, so as to avoid any confusion.
Well, there are still plenty of things to shoot in SSP. And if the default mobs aren't enough, there are plenty of mods to add new, more powerful ones to match your strength (and firepower in this case) with.

If no one answers, I think I'm going to try my hand at the shotguns on my planned features list. I intend to have 3 types: a tier-one blunderbuss that uses ammo made from gunpowder plus gravel (for low-damage, low-range, wide-spread shots), iron shards (for a basic shot), more gunpowder and paper (for incendiary rounds), or a chunk of stone (for a single, powerful shot). Then there will be a single-barreled, 5-round-magazine shotgun and a double-barreled, one. These will have similar ammo types, but made from more "respectable" materials.

The only thing I DO NOT like about 99% of gun mods, is the fact that they add too many things, and none of it configurable, or the guns are underpowered, or the recipes arnt great (as I personally hate having to make three different things to make one item, but for yours, the three different things are used in every other weapon.)
I just want a god damn pistol and rifle. Minegunner does recipes, and balanced best, but the guns are a hassle to reload (And the modder who does it kinda hates everything and anything suggested), Balkon's Musket is probably the best, but it's a musket so it's innacurate, and it's the only gun he has (for now.) SDK's is just terrible, Cawadooty in minecraft. And every other non important weapon mod fails at one of the above.
Lastly, there is a gun mod in the WIP section where people make their own guns with a program and the mod loads it, but thats slightly confusing and buggy as hell.
What Id like to see done in this mod? Like I ask for all mods, Configuration, because the option to have things, is better than just accepting everything.
On a side note, I like that the items made are used throughout the mod, but dont make those items be used to make ANOTHER set of items to be used to make another gun, as you already started with the Sniper barrel, which isnt really needed since you can just use the barrel three times within the recipe square.
PS: the recipe for the musket bullet is the same as balkon's musket bullet. Just throwing that out there.
I only say cut down on the Items upon items is because they each use item sprite spaces. Unless you use forge.
And Im not an advocate for forge.
Well, since the majority of votes are for sound, I guess it's time to go figure out how the hell AudioMod works, then go on a little shopping trip at freesound.org.
I think at some point I will also add a config file like Pixelated suggested, but that might take some time to code.

Since Audiomod is being a severe discomfort to the posterior (a pain in the ass for all you uneducated folk), I've elected to add a few more guns just to keep y'all going for a while.So far all I have is a weak but very fast handgun, but within the week I plan to have my shotgun code ready for a public release.

might i suggest reload sounds, shooting sounds, and "when the gun is empty and you have no ammo left" sound?
might i suggest also an indication on how much bullet left if say you put in an SMG?
Okay, news time! I've got the shotgun base code almost ready to try out. I don't know if my original estimate of "within a week" will hold because of homework and other factors of real life, but you can rest assured that progress is in fact being made.
Also, I know this is super unprofessional of me (I am still technically an amateur modder), but does anyone know how to use AudioMod with MCP? I tried installing it in the original .jar before decompiling, but all that did is make the game crash if I took the sound level off of 0%.
Finally, does anyone have suggestions for what guns they want added? Nothing too modern, keep it WWI or earlier. Suggestions for AK-47s and rocket launchers will be ignored unconditionally. (Although, an old Chinese-style bamboo and paper rocket would be cool and reasonably balanced.)

Item IDs start at 5000 and go up from there. Configuration may happen sooner than I thought due to my being informed of the wonders of MLProp, but it's not going to be ready anytime soon.
