I'm not sure if this has been done before, kind off hard to find a video about it since I don't know what to search for, but I made a tutorial for it anyway! It's very cheap, easy to do legit (beware of lava) and it uses little space horizontally :)

Click here for the video! :)

If you have any questions about this, please ask them here or on the video! :D :iapprove:

To get down, jump into water. duh.

It's a video. -.-
Although it's not that hard to link it properly... Edit: Why don't you use the "insert media" button?

For the video: Good idea, now I need a way to get down to bedrock in one sec.

Just have a hole that ends in 3 deep water. Simply fall down.

I've known about this for a while.

My way down is a 1x1 hole straight down with this at the bottom:

:cobblestone: :: :cobblestone:
:cobblestone: :Water: :cobblestone:
:cobblestone: :Water: :cobblestone:
:cobblestone: :Logs^: :cobblestone:
:: :: ::
:: :: ::
:cobblestone: :cobblestone: :cobblestone:

Where :Water: is water, and :Logs^: is a sign holding the water up. Breaks my fall damage without slowing my speed.

I use Minecarts on the way up because I like to be able to send up chests full of items.

So you mean using normal minecart tracks? I was thinking you meant like the video posted, except minecarts instead of boats.

Uhh... Yeah, using a Minecart track. I thought mentioning storage minecarts made that clear.

It did, I was mainly explaining my original confusion.

It has been done already with Minecarts, but boat's are MUCH cheaper resource wise.

The problem is, this takes forever to build and set up.

The time it takes to build is constant, but the time saved using it builds over time. So that is no issue. Why do you think railroads (in real life) exist?
No you didn't, because TNT damage doesn't stack.

It looks like it will save time in the long-run if the shaft is used frequently.
