I know there's an outline for modifying skins, so is there one for armor?
I'm working on a texture pack and am having trouble telling what parts correspond where.

One for mobs would also be much appreciated.

I want to add to this request...

If someone out there is making an armor editor (like the skin editor), I would like to have it be able to add whatever character texture we use so we can tell what the armor LOOKS like when we equip it on that texture.

i.e. I want to skin armor for my current texture that you see in my avatar, but I want to see a display of what the armor looks like as I am editting it and what it would look like on my character.

You can change the colours of your armour. In the minecraft.jar, go to the armors folder. Then go whatever armor you want. From what I saw yesterday, {Insert Armour Here}1.png (or whatever the format is) is for everything except pants (I think), and {Insert Armour Here}2.png is for pants. This changes how your armor looks on you. Yesterday, I had my diamond armour being red and green (red for everything but pants, green for pants). Then just change the icon of it in the gui/icons.png file I think it is

I'm aware of what files effect what armor and what parts. I just mean which specific sections of the image change which areas? Like the right arm, left arm, back, etc.

Ah. Right. Well, I could give it a go soon. Maybe within an hour I'll start? Just need to finish off an assignment. If I get it, I'll let you know ^_^

That's OK. About to start in 15ish minutes. I MIGHT make a program that will sort it all out so that all you have to do is load it up, and edit it, but I'm not sure if my coding skills would be awesome enough to do that. But I'll try, maybe. Depends on my time

I'll give the mobs a go too while I'm at it. Might take longer though. I'll put the armour up as a new topic in a few minutes

You can use Skin Edit to modifie the armor. Armor is the same as the skin. Mobs are kind of different.
