i think the 'TIMBERRR' mod does that (exact name not sure). Search it up in the wiki mod page. for smp...idk

I would like this as well. I use server mods (Industrialcraft, Buildcraft, Redpower, etc.) and they do not work with bukkit. I would hope someone can make a mod as simple as Timber for SMP.
